About this listen

Something whistling through the door behind her caused her to turn. A shadow spread across the opening. She clasped a hand to her mouth, stilling the fear that was rising. The menacing shadow was followed by a face that sent a cold shiver down her spine….

When the call comes in about Lucy, a 17-year-old girl murdered after the secret party she held in her parents’ home, Detective Lottie Parker is first on the scene. As she picks her way through the smashed glasses and the blood spatter on the perfect cream carpet, she is horrified to see Lucy’s angelic face, silvery-blue eyes forever closed.

As Lottie breaks the news to Lucy’s heartbroken parents and the devastated partygoers, she discovers that hours before her death Lucy had revealed a terrible secret about her friend Hannah. And when Lottie finds Lucy’s bloodstained clothing hidden in Hannah’s bedroom, she has no option but to bring the shy, frightened girl into custody.

But Hannah claims to have no memory of the night Lucy died and Lottie begins to question her guilt. Then a 15-year-old boy who also attended the party is pulled from the canal. And as Lottie investigates, she discovers something shocking. Her own son Sean was at the party. Why did he lie to her? Is her beloved child a witness or a suspect...or is he now in the killer’s sights?

If you love Karin Slaughter, Robert Dugoni, and Rachel Caine, you’ll be hooked by this heart-stopping thriller from Patricia Gibney. The Guilty Girl will have you gripped.

Each installment better than the last

This is definitely my favorite in the series! It seemed more realistic than some of the previous scenarios so this is my first 5 Star review. The performances are always very good.

Well done but some concern about medical rigor.

I really like the Lottie Parker books, mostly because they’re in Ireland. But I do bristle at her harshness and incivility with some people. Especially I’m concerned about the part where she met up with Sharon in the old building after Sharon was attacked and injured. Lottie went on endlessly and crazily asking questions and pushing Sharon to answer them. All before assessing the extent of her injuries and harm to her body. As an advanced practice nurse and a registered nurse for over 50 years this was utterly irresponsible and could’ve caused Aaron‘s death. I know this is fiction but the entire scene and set up was handled incorrectly and I was hollering to myself why didn’t she go to help her first and then question her later. I think that was a huge huge mistake in the story.

Love Lottie however

I love the Lottie Parker series-but this has one wasn’t even on the same level as the rest of the series. Having said that I can’t wait for the next one

Another great one

Miss Lotte Parker already! I have read the entire series, and my commute feels strange not to have her with me.

I love the series

I have listened to the entire series and love the story and the narrator. Lottie frustrates me sometimes but she grew on me. My only complaint is, why is a member of her family always involved in every single crime? How many people live in this city?? And the “coincidences”, like Boyd being in the same place as the victim’s parents. Every book have these crazy coincidences that are not believable. Other than that, I love the series and looking forward to the next one.

I was at the edge of my seat again!

I started reading Patricia’s books years ago. I introduced her books to my friends in America and now we all wait, with anticipation, until the next one comes out! Love these books and Patricia’s personal journey. So inspiring!
