A USA Today and Wall Street Journal Bestseller!

D. D. Warren was pretty sure she’d seen it all. Then a man walks into police headquarters, attempting desperately to convince the squad that he’s dead. Explaining to him that he’s very much alive, they finally send him on his way…and then hours later, he turns up actually dead. And it’s on D. D. Warren to figure out how and why the dead man died…twice.

Plus: an early look at Gardner’s next riveting thriller, Never Tell.

A man shows up at the police saying he was killed. He's obviously alive. He's taken home, only for the police to get a call later that night that he is dead.

Hard-boiled D.D. Warren sure grew on me. Loved this mystery! Lover her staccato way of telling it!

Short and great.

Cute is not a word I ever expected to use in association with Lisa Gardner. And it isn’t really just has a bit of that feeling. Feels much like a Hericule Perot.

Cute little story

Another great book by Lisa Gardner.
I listened to this while doing payroll & I loved it. Character development was great for a short story which was impressive.
I love Detective DeeDee Warren!

Excellent short story

This story was wonderful and long overdue; Ms Gardner has returned to a successful formula with D D Warren and eliminated the Flora Dane character in previous books. The books with the Dane character were so very disappointing. I almost stopped reading Ms Gardner! This was wonderful and I once again look forward to future books.

FINALLY A RETURN TO A SUCCESSFUL FORMULA

I love this author. I love this narrator. I love the continued saga of Detective Dee Dee Warren! I love having a quick short story in between books.

Love all the things!

Boring….. not worth a full credit. Not up to par with her usual. I miss the stories with Flora Dane. I don’t know how the story ended bec I fell asleep!

It worked like nyquil

Loved this short story. Laughed all the way thru it. I’m a big fan of Kirsten Potter. Will listen to most anything she narrates.

Witty

Detective D. D. Warren comes home after a day dealing with the most bizarre case she can recall and shares the experience with her husband over a glass of wine. A man walks into the station and is convinced he’s already dead. A few hours after they dispatch him home, they receive a call that this time he’s truly dead.

I’m not a fan of novellas but I’m warming to those in this series because they’re cleverly crafted. And, if you have the good fortune to listen to them on audio, you’ll get the added benefit of Kirsten Potter’s sarcastic delivery, completely in tandem with the how the story is written. At the last minute, I decided to use a coupon to get the audiobook from Audible and treated myself to a fun 97 minutes of storytelling. I had no clue where this story would lead and how it would end but I didn’t care because I enjoyed the journey. Just read it and if you can get the audio version, go for it!

97 Minutes of Great Storytelling

True to the classic whodunit style, nod to Agatha Christy and Clue! she should give this book away as a teaser. it stands alone and doesn't need the rest of the series to support it.

fun!
