Publisher's summary

If Andy Warhol could have anticipated the Internet, he would have said it’s where everyone will be stalked for at least 15 minutes. Notorious underground author Jim Goad describes himself as “a lowly neutrino in the vast universe of celebrity,” yet he attracts a certain breed of demented fan that treats him as if he’s the second coming of Christ - that is, until they feel he’s somehow snubbed them, at which point he transforms into Satan. The Headache Factory documents Jim’s extensive experiences fending off fans who morphed into stalkers. By turns terrifying and amusing, the book demonstrates how social media enables the antisocial to reach out and touch anyone they want - even if their target doesn’t want to be touched.

My First Audible

Not entirely sure what made me click on this to be my first Audible listen, but I was not disappointed.

Morbidly curious about obsessive behaviors, this was extremely interesting and entertaining! I feel bad for this guy who seems to be quite the magnet for it!

The commentary was smooth and clear with great flow. Thanks, author! 🥂

Excellent Book.

This is really a fantastic book. It is interesting and serves as a guidebook in how to deal with online stalkers. It is both disturbing and entertaining. I wish Audible had more books on it by Jim Goad; especially with him narrating it. He has the best voice.

Highly Entertaining!

Jim Goad is a great writer, and after experiencing this book, I know I never need to tell him so or reach out to him in any manner! The grim tales of extremely online sycophants really drive home the pathetic nature of using fandom as a substitute for personal achievement.

It’s very funny and will definitely make you feel better about yourself, even if you’ve committed cringe in the past.

Hypnotic

Jim Goads unorthodox style and unapologetic recounting of his past fans turned feral, pulls you in like gossip with an old friend. you'll find yourself enjoying this one after a heated argument.

Jim Goad is an excellent writer!

I *loved* this book. Jim is hilarious, and the most disagreeable person that I agree with on nearly everything. His detractors are weak beta males or super chunky hateful feminists whose ad hominem attacks reek of simple jealousy. They envy his talent, because they have none. Their anger makes them transparent.

shithead

It seems to me, Jim has more in common with his "fans" than he'd like to admit. Oh Jimmy, you couldn't be a closed book if you tried. 2/10.
