Sherlock Holmes

Excellent narration. I have recommended this story many times. It is so important to have good voices behind the story.

Great narration of a fantastic story!

I always love Simon Vance as a narrator. He has a very pleasant voice and does a good job at distinguishing between characters. However, there was a single chapter where he seemed to forget that Sir Henry didn’t have an English accent - it threw me off while listening. Otherwise, though, a very enjoyable listen. I hadn’t revisited this story in a very long time and I’m glad I decided to listen to it this time around!

Hound of Baskervilles

Very enjoyable to listen to while walking around the track, Arthur Conan Doyle was adept a describing the characters and the setting. There is the supernatural element which adds to the mystery. Is the family curse real or just superstitious gossip of the neighborhood? Then there is the escaped convict subplot.

Excellent version of Doyle's best work

I've listened to "The Hound" read by many narrators. This is certainly one of the best versions I've heard. Narrator Simon Vance does an extraordinary job bringing this classic Sherlock Holmes novel to life. I highly recommend.

Unfortunate

I normally like Simon Vance as a narrator, but this certainly was an exception on this book. It is a wonderful book that was ruined by a horrible, dry, boring narrator.
