Publisher's summary

A woman is haunted—both literally and figuratively—by ghosts of the past in this second novel of the Royal Street series by New York Times bestselling author Karen White.

Nola Trenholm may not be psychic herself, but she’s spent enough time around people who are to know when ghosts are present, and there are definitely a few lingering spirits in her recently purchased Creole cottage in New Orleans. Something, or someone, is keeping them tethered to this world. And not all of them are benign.

But with the sudden return of Sunny Ryan, Beau Ryan’s long-lost sister, Nola has plenty to distract her from her ghostly housemates. Especially when the tempting—yet firmly unavailable—Beau, wanting to mete out justice to those he blames for Sunny’s kidnapping, asks Nola for a favor that threatens to derail her hard-won recovery and send her hurtling backward. He asks her to welcome Michael Hebert back into her life, even though Michael is the reason for Nola’s bruised heart. Beau is convinced that Michael’s powerful family was behind Sunny’s disappearance and that Michael is the key to getting information the police won’t be able to ignore—if Nola is willing to risk everything for which she’s worked so hard.

Torn between helping Beau and protecting herself, Nola doesn’t realize until it’s almost too late why the ghosts are haunting her house—a startling revelation that will throw her and Beau together to fight a common enemy. Assuming Nola can get Beau to listen to what the spirits are trying to tell him, because ignoring them could prove to be a fatal mistake...

"Expertly packed with suspense and family secrets, and soaked in New Orleans atmosphere, The House on Prytania is Karen White at her best. This twisty, satisfying tale will keep readers up far too late."—Simone St. James, New York Times bestselling author of The Sun Down Motel

"An exciting psychic mystery best enjoyed by veterans who’ve read all the previous entries in both series."—Kirkus Reviews

Good, Intriguing, But

I really get tired of the relationships building and toddling. Continuity would be great and still keep the story alive.

Great listening experience

Karen White is one of my favorite authors. Her Tradd Street series was of particular interest to me since I’ve lived in Charleston for most of my life and when I purchased the Prytania series I was very pleased to learn that Lola lives on the corner of Broadway and Willow. My first 10 years of my life were spent in New Orleans, second house from the corner on Audubon St. at Willow. Tulane and Newcomb campuses were our playground, Holy Name our church, and Audubon Park was where I and my parents and siblings were every Sunday after Mass. The story alone is excellent but the location took me to places I’ve loved and missed.

Love the characters

The characters and setting in all Karen’s books are always interesting. She mentions familiar places in her writing, this one mentioned many familiar places in New Orleans.

Waiting for the next in this series!

Reassuring reliable story telling Karen White does not disappoint. Hopefully in 20 years we’ll be listening to Nola’s daughter on her adventure in the paranormal.

Predictable outcomes

The story was something that I feel has been done before with no real surprises. I was not a fan of the overly dramatic performance but if u want a story that is not too frightening and sort of interesting then this is one for you

Excellent book

Always a good listen. Really enjoy the Karen White books that take place in New Orleans, or the new that take place in North Carolina.
