About this listen

In the months following the Awakening, Christian's group of survivors grows, but they are still outnumbered by the hordes of zombies and scabs plaguing the world. With their security at risk, they must move to safer ground.

When Christian and Boomer get separated from the group, Christian is caught in a life or death struggle forcing him to reveal his immunity and hope he can trust the one person who knows his secret.

After Fish leads a daring rescue to save a group of specialists, they discover the origin of the virus and a plan is forged to get them to the Hoover Dam. New hope is on the horizon until a betrayal within the camp threatens not only Christian's life, but the lives of all humanity.

In book two of The Hunt Chronicles, Christian makes a revelation: He may be immune to the virus, but he is not immune to the monsters which dwell in all of us.

Best Zombie books ever!!

I don't think J.D could have picked a better narrator then Joshua Story. I listen to a lot of audible books. I probably have listened to 50 so far this year and an aerator could kill a book or make a book and Joshua Story does a really good job as Christian. once again I could not put this book down I listen to it in 2 1/2 days. now I have to wait a long time until he finishes writing the 3rd book. once again he have captured a really good story of zombies. It's different than most and I really enjoy it especially with the scabs, if you like zombie books this is one to listen to.

pretty good

There were some mispronunciations, some yelling when the dialogue called for whispering, a few of the character voices were awkward and annoying, and the narrator chose to dictate some words clearly and fly through others, making the reading staggering. The characters were kind of one-dimensional, but what really irked me was how self-aware they all were. Tempers flared and we're quickly put out because they recognized why the other person was acting the way they were all too quickly. The main character was hastily reflective on his own actions and decisions. It was kind of like "I did this and this is why and this is what happened". Let them argue, let them bicker and fight. It's the apocalypse for goodness sake. Tempers SHOULD be on edge, people SHOULD be arguing. I already have the rest of the series, so I guess I'll finish it at another time.

Good listen

I listened to volume 1 as well. It was good. Christian sounds like a real person relaying what a normal human being would do in this situation.

Fantastic followup.

I enjoyed this book immensely but couldn't bring myself to write a review without jumping into the third book immediately and taking some time to sit on this book and think about it. If I'm not wrong I read somewhere the author said he made people feel bad for the bad guy in this book, hopefully I'm not mixing it up with another book. Before I jump on that though lets cover the other stuff. Lots of new companion characters and world building going on in this book with event after event happening. The author is meticulous when writing about weapons and especially with stuff regarding the military, It's probably the most realistic depiction of the military in fiction that I have read to date with details most would miss and none of the exaggeration and extravagance of video games and movies. I really like most of the new characters introduced and they all seem to fit in perfectly and believably serving their own purposes. Now on to the bad guy of the book, I can see why some people might feel bad for him but I really didn't like him from the moment he was introduced. Mainly because of his demeanor, even his introductory scene made me assume worse about him. His backstory was a little predictable early on because of just how much detail the author puts into things as well. Overall though all of it was good character development for the story as a whole. Once again the narrator of the audible version did a fantastic job as well.
