About this listen
No, no, no! It doesn't matter how many times the Duchess of Trent (The Harlow Hoyden) requests her help with a delicate matter regarding a patent for her sister's invention, Tuppence Templeton will not lend a hand. She has a habit, yes, of coming up with ingenious plans to solve other people's problems, and it is true that she's clever and daring enough to pull off the proposed scheme. But there's no way she's going to confront the arrogant and dismissive Earl of Gage again. She is still shaken - or is it stirred? - from their last encounter when, rather than thank her for saving his sister from ruin, he railed against her for having the temerity to interfere in his family's business. And yet somehow when the opportunity arises, she finds herself unable to resist issuing the challenge.
Nicholas Perceval, Earl of Gage, cannot believe it when the impertinent upstart who exposed his sister to disaster maneuvers him into escorting her to the Bill Patent Office. What a perfectly ridiculous request! And then to discover that she manipulated him while they were there so that she could "find" a missing application - he has never been so angry in his entire life. And it's not because he'd unexpectedly enjoyed her charming and irreverent company. No, that has nothing to do with it at all. Perhaps maybe a little...

Story
Twenty-six-year-old Beatrice Hyde-Clare is far too shy to investigate the suspicious death of a fellow guest in the Lake District. A spinster who lives on the sufferance of her relatives, she would certainly not presume to search the rooms of her host's son and his friend looking for evidence. Reared in the twin virtues of deference and docility, she would absolutely never think to question the imperious Duke of Kesgrave about anything, let alone how he chose to represent the incident to the local constable. And yet that's exactly what she does.

As the London Daily Gazette’s popular gossip columnist, she is extremely adept at sneaking into houses, assuming disguises and overseeing a vast network of spies to ensure she stays abreast of the beau monde’s comings and goings. If it sometimes seems as though she was hiding behind the settee during a particularly fierce quarrel between a husband and his wife, it’s most likely because she was hiding behind the settee during their fierce quarrel.

Story
One of the turning points in Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice is Miss Elizabeth Bennet's passionate refusal and denunciation of the equally passionate but infinitely more repressed Fitzwilliam Darcy. However, unforeseen events can lead to the most unexpected consequences. During a visit with her friend, Charlotte Collins, at Hunsford, Elizabeth falls prey to illness for almost the first time in her life just as Mr. Darcy comes to call. Befuddled by her illness, she misinterprets his proposal of marriage, and a simple nod of acknowledgment is mistaken for acceptance.

Gillian has become adept at hiding the reality of her circumstances, but the close quarters of a house party will test her ability to conceal the crushing truth. And with so many people to deceive, the late arrival of another guest is a most unwelcome surprise.

Fun and Lighthearted
Liked that it was fun to listen and the Harlow sisters were characters in the book. The heroine was likable, resourceful, independent-minded and loyal.
I hope there will be another book in the series with all the main characters even if it’s a cameo appearance.

Witty, hilarious, and complex
This book made me laugh repeatedly. The dialog and antics are funny without making impossible leaps of logic. Great closing book on the series.

INGENIOUS, FUNNY, THOROUGHLY ENJOYABLE!
This is a great series! The timing is superb. Just when things get sad, something hilarious happens. I love strong, brilliant characters, both men and women, and when they find someone who challenges their intellect, supports them, are kind, decent, and have a sense of humor, I'm all in. All of Lynn Messina's Books should come with a warning: Save them for days with lots of chores or lots of time to relax, where you can be plugged into these books from beginning to end because you won't be able to put them down!
A confirmed spinster and happily unentangled bachelor who aren't looking for that special someone because they have set the bar so high they don't expect that person to exist.
In general, the narration was lovely, but the twins' voices seemed ear piercingly high and unrealistic at times. I still thought the narration was great and if Ms. Rayner becomes aware of that, she will move to 5 stars.

Highly entertaining
The chemistry was good, the heroine was a strong, brave, funny, and intelligent woman whose priorities were excellent; the side characters were also fully developed and interesting. The plot was great - gripping at times - and never illogical or implausible. I thoroughly enjoyed this!

Fantastic!
So sad this is the last in this fabulous series!
I felt really bad for the heroine, Tuppence. She is on the shelf, constantly put down by her parents as if anyone would notice her.
When asked to find out information for the Harlow Holden, now a Duchess she has to get Nicholas, the Earl of Gage involved
Then the adventure begins!! Loved it

Good
This is the 2nd time I've read this book. The 1st time I read it, I did not like it. I believe it was because I read it as a stand-alone and had not read any of the previous books in the series. Now that I have become acquainted with the Houdin twins, my enjoyment and understanding increased immensely. Though I found the MCs frustrating, it was obvious they were meant for each other. Their courtship was engaging, fun, and romantic.
