About this listen

Each year, Democryos sends his brightest student into the war-torn countryside to work magic. But when his wife leaves him for a mysterious stranger, he finds his own life ravaged.

Forsaking the comfort of the citadel, he searches for her, traveling through the same forgotten lands where he sent his students. Along the way, he befriends an elusive member of the king’s harem, a holy man harboring guilt, and a maimed soldier. Together, they stumble upon a key - not only to the war, but to understanding the magic of voidance itself.

Tangled Dark Fantasy

This was my first experience with D.M. Wozniak's work, and it was entertaining. I really enjoyed the worldbuilding and the complexities of the magic of the void. I liked the characters, their arcs, and how their interactions aided in their changes. There was a slight lull in the middle of the story, but the conclusion was worth the period of time that the story slowed down. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. Peter Kenyon's narration was great, and his performance enhanced the story's entertainment. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily posted this review.

Very unique and imaginative

Very imaginative story set in a really cool new world, that felt medieval. The book was very exciting, and was the perfect mix of science fiction, magic, and thriller. It was intelligently written, and had a nice flow. The magic system was fun to learn about and developed throughout the book. I enjoyed both the good and evil characters, which matched up well and kept things exciting. I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

A Story with a Twist

Great story, it took me a little bit to get into this book & glad I did. Thought it was going to be a simple story line, it wasn't. A twist near the end was a wonderful change to similar stories. Thanks D.M. Wozniak.
