About this listen

The Insurmountable Edge (book one) is an on-point action thriller with a wisecracking antihero that will win over fans of Tom Clancy, Jeffrey Deaver and Robert Ludlum.” (Rob Errera, IndieReader.com)

Two children savagely stoned to death in the California desert. Top employees of a US defense contractor dying at an alarming rate. A cryptic message sent by a strange, secretive source warns the contractor’s products have been corrupted and could be used against the US Armed Forces.

They all seem to be connected. But how?

Only two men on earth are capable of putting it all together; those men are Jack Wilder and Jeff Bradshaw, two of the greatest special-operations forces soldiers who have ever lived.

There’s a problem though. Jack and Jeff are off-duty at Jack’s ranch while Jeff tries to recover from a severe case of post-traumatic stress disorder. Jack’s 17-year-old ward, a hellcat named Adelaide, is also on the ranch. Nothing seems more impossible than getting the three of them to leave their safe commune. But then, a mysterious blue Maybach shows up at the ranch. The Maybach’s visit sends Adelaide, Jack and Jeff off on a dangerous trail of murder and intrigue as they confront The Insurmountable Edge.

I could have finished this book hours prior to the ending of the story unabridged not worth buying too many words, too many descriptions, and the story was horrific

Much too long

A very detailed and intricate plot. Good read. It starts pretty slow but the story begins to twist and turn as you get along.

I loved the humor. However, PLEASE investigate synonyms for the word "said". I frequently had to rewind to listen to what I had missed from being distracted by hearing the word SAID so frequently. Really!

Humorous but needs a thesaurus for the verb "said"

I want book 2!

Brick captures the tone of the main character impeccably and Goodfellow creates a relatable protagonist that you willfully admire.

This Novel Has Many Great Features

The author introduces a few interesting characters but lets meaningless dialogue slow down both the story and character development. Since perfect reality isn't always necessary for a good novel, I could get past a 37 year old General who's also an assassin. However, too much time was spent on his feelings and not enough on being the star operative he was cracked up to be. In short, the story drags. That this was the first of three parts makes me hesitate to try for book 2 ... but I'll nonetheless give it a go.

Scott Brick is his usual excellent self.

Strong Potential But Tedious

"Great story! Can't wait to start Book II" I said. "It's very monotonous, at first. But you start to not even notice." I said.

"Great story" ... I said

It is a good story with one of the best narrators Scott Brick. My only issue was how often the speakers were identified. Many times I knew who the character talking was and didn’t need the person identified. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series

Good story

Ages and misidentification of the children. I mean, two sets of kids by two different wives... there ages were not close enough to be believable to me. also, a super soldier that is always hallucinating, well we'll see in the next book.
and every woman is the most beautiful ever. whatever.

Good book. a few issues

This is a great and intriguing plot, but way too long and the dialogue is a bit annoying when read. Should be about 1/2 as long. Glad the first book is free and the second in less than $9.

Great Plot-Needs Editor
