Less May Be More ...

Possibly it doesn’t take 40 separate “tools” to denote Success/Genius attributes. A listing of 40 creates for a good book; however I felt some listings were duplicative and/or “weak” in direction. Overall - a great book to awaken the mind and motivate to action.

Forty self-enrichment techniques

I listened to the audio book of The Intellectual Toolkit of Geniuses narrated by Markham Anderson. I’m not sure how I might have felt about the book had I just read it but being able to listen to a particularly good narrator discuss the forty topics and why they are important felt like I was attending a mastermind lecture. Overall, I feel like I gained some insight from the experience even though I am familiar with 90% of the topics and practice them regularly.

A quick, cute, read —that left me a bit wanting

A simple book that offers one-minute ideas to reflect on —ideas that could prove useful if you take the time to crystallise, understand, elaborate, contextualize and implement them in your life.

Yet I felt like I was listening to a book by a very-successful does-a-lot, young and energetic best-selling author and entrepreneur —it annoyed me, and it left me wanting depth and subtleness.

In the end I found myself asking myself why I was looking to I. C. Robledo for a smarter me at all. That, per se, I think was an small awakening and worthwhile question to explore.
