About this listen

Salvor Lermentov, Astra Militarum officer turned would-be freedom fighter, languishes in a dark cell deep within an Inquisition fortress. Captured for the crime of treachery, he is sure of his innocence - for did he not aid a servant of the Inquisition in preventing a grievous threat to Terra itself?

As he and Inquisitor Crowl match wits in an interrogation, Lermentov outlines his reasons for deserting - but Inquisitor Crowl knows darker truths about the Imperium of Man, and with them in mind, can he possibly allow this traitor to live?

For a audio drama clocking at under 30 minutes this is by far one of the best preformed pieces from Black Library. The set up between a traitor Imperial Guardsman and an Inquisitor in a short conversation leads into a morally grey tale of good men trapped not only by their roles but also by a cruel and merciless universe. Highly recommended even for people who are not quite fans of the Warhammer 40,000 universe.

Short but Sweet

To consort with the heretic is to endanger one’s purity. But to lie to an inquisitor is to forfeit your soul. – Inquisition quote.

Another short novella, however this one had more back and forth between characters. Giving the listener a little glimpse inside the world, without devolving into an evil and not evil person/creature.

I totally want this as a full sized book, someone come take my money and give me that book!!! However, only four stars because it is only a scene out of a book, not a complete story (well I guess we could quibble on that).

Another great Warhammer 40k Novella!

The performances were outstanding! This story comes between books 1 and 2 in "The Vaults of Terra" series.

This drama is all about the acting, the story is secondary but a great add-on to the overall storyline.

Highly recommended

This short perfectly summerizes the Imperiums situation. Slaying this hero rather than using him. Dumb

This is a direct continuation of Vault of Terra (book one) The Carrion Throne; the series is by far : (i) Argent (short-story), (ii) The Carrion Throne (Vault of Terra Book 1), (iii) The Interrogation is Salvor Lermentov (this audio drama), (iv) The Hollow Mountain (Vaults of Terra Book 2). All superb and full of insight on Imperium lore . A must have series

Awesome - full of insight in Imperium lore

a nice bow on the gift that is the first book of the series and beyond, this conversation carried many possibilities and it even makes some of the later decisions have more merit when you remember this is in the back of his mind.

great follow up

I’m so glad I didn’t jump straight into the next Vaults of Terra book after I finished Carrion Throne or else I wouldn’t have accidentally found this amazing bonus follow-up to it. If you liked Carrion Throne as much as I did, you have no reason not to listen.

A surprise find after finishing Carrion Throne

The interrogation of a former soldier who has began showing signs of corruption by chaos. Will he survive the Inquisition interrogation?

The best acting in a 40k audio book I've heard yet. The story is short but it's absolutely worth it. Both actors are amazing and really get in to their roles. The story is solid too, and ties up a loose end from the first book. It always bothered me that Crowl saw Lermentov as a traitor. This gives you some insight into Crowl's thinking.

Fantastic acting

Read the vaults of terra and then this asap afterwards. I found it most fullfilling that way. An excellent finale.

Excellent performance in a epilogue to a very good
