Publisher's summary

In the Beginning...

Given life by gods, the Ogres were the most intelligent and beautful of the early races on Krynn, and they reigned supreme in their perfect kingdom.... Until that fabled race was weakened by clan rivalries and evil ambition, their downfall orchestrated by the hand of the Dark Queen, Takhisis.... Until the once-proud Ogres were cursed by their own mistakes and transformed into one of Krynn's most ugly, despised, and villainous species....

All except a small group, the Irda, who learned to accept goodness, fight for their freedom, and escape to build a utopian civilization of their own on a paradise island in the Dragon Isles.

The Irda: The Lost Histories Series probes the historical roots and epic struggles of the heretofore little-known peoples of Krynn. Author Linda P. Baker sheds light on the legendary origins of this mysterious race, The Irda.

Bad narration.

Good book, great story. The narration was bad. The voice was clear, but too many pauses. I couldn't discern from one sentence to the next or one chapter to the next.

A fun side story

The Irda presented a fun side story to the Dragonlance series. However, it did little to connect this story to anything else I have read in the Dragonlance series beyond references to some familiar locations like the Dragon Isles and some familiar cities. I'm not a fan of this narrator either. However, I still enjoyed the book overall, but I'm not likely to repeat this one.

Enjoyed

This is one of my favorite Dragonlance books. I thought the narrator did a good job with the names and was pleasant to listen to. I definitely recommend this book.

Terrible Narration/Choppy writing

The narrator sounds like a female William Shatner reading some boring list. The story was choppy, but I kept going because I love Dragonlance so much. It was painful to finish due to the horrible narration.

Quite poor

I didn't care for the story. It was a bit disconnected. Not much of a plot. The narration is like listening to a fourth grade reader. The narrator pauses at odd times. Has not quite but almost a monotone. Her emotion doesn't follow the narration.

Finally finished it

The first couple chapters were good. struggled to finish the rest. skipped through the end or I would have to bang my head into a brick wall. moving on to Kagonesti, hopefullyit's better, or I will just skip Dragonlance, and stick to Drizzt and the Realms
