A wonderful book but narration not great…
An inspiring and romantic story amid the intriguing backdrop of Williamsburg about the daughter of a Tory nobleman and a Patriot burgess who fall in love despite the odds and sacrifice their freedom in following God’s direction.
Detailed historical research, engaging writing and flawed, honest characters. The setting was so vivid! Great read by Laura Frantz!
Unfortunately the narration wasn’t that great. The welsh accents were not good at all. I’ve been to Wales. Their accents are amazing! These were not. And the main character’s Virginia accent got on my nerves and sounded like the stereotypical Southern belle who lived on a big plantation in 1860.

Excellence Plot and Charters
The plot weaves a web of spies, heroes and patriots. Perhaps, (or should I say, May chance, ) the plot was too intricate for the length of the book. The ending is complete but the scenes flash by too quickly. I still highly recommend it. I’ve grown fond of Laura Frantz’s work. Aimlee Lilly performs the female voices to protection. However , the males voice lack a base tone. I look forward to more Frantz books set in this time period.

Story wonderful but narration not so
This narrator was terrible with Noble’s voice. It was supposed to be Welsh but sounded more like he was from India. It was an annoying voice that I could not get past. Even the women kept slipping in their accent. It was very distracting.

Good story but...
The story was good, typical Laura Franz. I enjoyed it very much until the narrator tried to cackle foreign accents. They were appalling! The lead character, a welsh man, sounded like someone from India. His chirpy, sing song voice almost ruined the story for me. There was nothing masculine or appealing about that voice! The French ladies made was equally pitiful as we're all the foreign voices. Otherwise, the narration was very good.

Excellent!!
Laura Frantz is definitely one of the best. I am currently listening to each of her books again because they are that good!! Aimee Lilly does a wonderful job narrating - bringing the books to life and tugging at your heartstrings.

Very engaging
Especially engaging since we I have visited Williamsburg many times. Since I have an interest in US history this was especially an appealing subject.

Good read for a Colonial Williamsburg fan, like me
If you are a CW junkie, you will appreciate the references to all our favorite places: The Raleigh Tavern, the Governor's Palace, Bruton Parish Church and much, much more! Clearly Ms. Frantz did her homework! It's a good story! The narrator's male, Welsh accent ...did not ring true. Otherwise, the narration was fair enough. I love Laura Frantz and have several of her books. I will listen to this again!
