Publisher's summary

"I am alone. Do you ever feel set apart from whatever is going on around you? Is it just me who feels lost and unconnected to the world? I have no idea how to connect even if I wished to. Sometimes, it feels safer in not quite belonging."

Anthony Russell, Earl of Lever, has to marry before his 30th birthday. That's what his father’s will dictates. A man who has always been socially awkward and at a loss of how to communicate easily with people is determined to marry to save his heritage. But he has no real idea of how to avoid making a blundering mess of the situation he is faced with.

Mrs. Julia Price is a widow escaping from a brutal past of living with an abusive husband. Wishing to give her son everything, while living in straightened circumstances, she is determined to appear as undamaged as she can be. She will no longer be intimidated or treated poorly.

Two damaged souls brought together amid a mix of family conflict, old friendships, and Bath society. Dare they risk their hearts? Are they able to forget the trauma of the past?

One thing is certain. After meeting, neither will be the same again...

The Lonely Lord is a regency romance which is topped with a generous dose of humor, chemistry, teasing, and tears. If you like complex but strong characters and a huge dose of romance with some laughs along the way, then you'll love Audrey Harrison's regency tale. Everyone deserves that happy ending.

I am looking to enjoy more of Audrey Harrison

What a fine story this was to listen to. The reader was great with different voices for each character without over doing it. the characters were very real and interesting. I liked them and felt satisfied by the ending.

really a 3.5. Not great but above pretty good

I liked this story. I liked Anthony but I believe his change was way to fast for his history. The relationship between hero and heroine was cute but needed more time to get to love as quick as it did. The book had a somber tone which was made more somber by the narrator. Mr Young's performance was very good with proper inflection and characterization. While his general tone was in keeping with Anthony's sadness in the beginning, it did not elevate as Anthony's happiness did over the course of the book.

Anthony and Julia!! Ahhhhh…..

This is just an absolutely fabulous story!!!! Having read all of Georgette Heyer’s Regencies…. as well as many more regencies of far less quality…it is just SO nice to come across a book… quite unexpectedly.. that did the same thing for me as Ms. Heyer’s books. ALL of the characters in this story… except for the wicked stepmother and one “rogue” as Julia’s mother called him… are totally likable and add so much to the overall story and my enjoyment of it. And as great as this book is, it was made even better by the narrator, James Young. He is fantastic! This is the first opportunity I have had to listen to Mr. Young and so hope he has recorded some other regencies as well. Good job, Ms. Harrison and Mr. Young!!

I love Anthony and Julia❤️

I relate with Anthony so much. I have been that way all of my life. Square peg. Round hole. It’s actually painful. Being around a lot of people doesn’t help either. Although I don’t insult people like Anthony does. I think Audrey Harrison did a great job.

very entertaining

this is a really unusual book. As always the characters are quite compelling although the hero is not that likeable to begin with but stick with it because there's some real depth to the story, as there always are with Audrey's books. although this is not my favorite of her books, it's well worth the listen!
