About this listen

Mr. Satterthwaite and Colonel Melrose are comfortably ensconced in the Colonel's study when the phone suddenly rings. Someone has been murdered, and, as the county chief constable, the Colonel lets Satterthwaite accompany him to the scene of the crime. The two of them have opposing opinions on why Sir James Dwighton has been bashed over the head with a blunt instrument. Rumor had it that red-haired beauty Laura Dwighton and her guest, the very attractive Mr. Paul Delangua, were engaged in an illicit affair, and Paul was thrown out by the disgruntled Sir James. But the facts of the murder all seem to add up too nicely, and then Mr. Quin arrives on the scene....

What about Hugh Fraser’s performance did you like?

He narrates each character with such perfection, he gives them a distinct personality, he is excellent.

If you could take any character from The Love Detectives out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Harley Quinn, he is so suave and charming.

A nice taste of our favorite characters.

A good little story. It went too fast. It was nice to have a story with other characters that we have enjoyed in other stories.

Not my cup of tea

I tried this short story as a listening experiment. I have to say the short story did not catch my interest. There was too little meat in it for me. Now, a short story enthusiast might be very happy with it. I found the listen easy to understand and there was a curve. I personally will pass on these types of stories from now on preferring a full novels. I don’t want to take anything away from Agatha Chrisite, I am just not a fan of this format.
