About this listen

Ayla

The darkness never truly left me. It's always there, waiting for the right moment to strike.

It's been months since I ran away from the nightmare that was slowly killing me. I ran for my life, straight into the arms of a man who I thought would be worse than the nightmare I'd left behind.

Little did I know he'd become my savior.

But my happy ending was ripped away from me in a blink of an eye. I had everything...and I lost everything.

Alessio

I didn't believe in angels. But then I saw her. I touched her. I kissed her. I made love to her. In return, she saved my soul.

I was no longer unlovable, because my angel found it in her heart to love me.

I had her...and then I lost her.

But I will not stop until I find her.

Even if it means starting a war and spilling the blood of everyone who gets in my way.

I will find my angel.

WARNING! CONTAINS SPOILERS: Just let me start by saying that if you're an overly Emotional person, and if Rape, and Abuse cause triggers than I don't recommend that you listen/read this book. I've not listened to a book like this in a long time. This book was brutal on my emotions after Ayla was given/taken away from Alesso, and the abuse/(RAPE) she suffered I had to stop listening on several occasions, because it was just too upsetting, and I just couldn't continue on listening I had to take breaks from listening to this book, and start back listening at a later time, because I was so Emotional. This book was so different from the first book that it caught me completely off guard, I wasn't expecting that. None of the reviews said any thing about Emotional Triggers, because maybe if someone had written a review explaining that this book is nothing like the previous book, and about the emotional triggers I would've thought twice about continuing this series. I usually stay away from books, and movies that cause Anger, and or Sadness, because I don't enjoy being either one on any given day. I don't mind a little drama, and action in books, but this was more than too much for me. It took more time than usual for me, but I was able to finish this book. I don't know if I will continue on with the next book or not, because I feel like now I really don't know what to expect, and really I don't trust that the reviews will tell me what I really need to know to do so.

EMOTIONAL 😖😞😖😑😖😵

This book kept me on the edge of my seat. I love the way the Alissio loves Ila so much, and will stop at nothing to find her. Would be better with dual narration, but still a great listen.

I loved this book more than the first one.

This is Book 2 in the series and wow...another winner. It’s an edge of your seat book, and will keep you hanging every moment. It covers the kidnapping of one character and a Russian mafia team’s efforts to recover the person. I loved the tension and drama of trying to find someone without having any information, especially when we know from the kidnapped person’s POV exactly what is simultaneously happening to him/her (don’t want to spoil this).

One small criticism about the plot is that the members of this Russian mafia team keep telling the listener that they are making every effort to find the kidnapped person, but they don’t actually *do* one thing. Instead, they seem to be sitting around the Pakhan’s house waiting for leads to come to them. This was disappointing because it would have been a great opportunity to insert some action related to the mafia’s intell operations, search methods, etc.

I would also offer a trigger warning to those with PTSD, or a history of rape or violence. Some of the scenes contain sexual assault and torture that are brutally hard to hear.

The book is terrific as a follow up to Book 1. It is very, very dark but it certainly fits with the genre. Highly recommended!

Great Book 2 in the series

*****Possible spoilers******
I don’t think people listen/read this story for how realistic it is but I enjoyed the over-the-too drama. At some point I did think there was too much gore description regarding the torture for information scenes.

Sadistic for me to say, but I loved how tortured and angsty the characters all were in this book. How regretful Alessio felt for leaving Ayla and how much despair Ayla felt thinking she’d been abandoned. The suffering Ayla went through really broke my heart (but I did think her torture was kinda unrealistic in the sense that she was pregnant and living in such unsanitary conditions. How did she not die sooner? Is it because the human body perseveres in strange ways? Or because the author says so).

Tia’s narration of Ayla is spot on. Lyrical and heart wrenching in moments of suffering. I would love this book a thousand times more if it had a male narrator but Tia’s male voice is easy to differentiate and suits the cadence of the story. She inflects a lot of emotion into her narration so I didn’t mind.

Very dramatic and sent those adrenaline tingles to my heart

Absolutely loving this series. It has kept me captivated through book 1 and book 2 and currently on book 3. It holds your attention and at times keeps you on the edge of your seat.

This is the second book in the series. It is so good. Suspense, romance, and a surprise ending. There are some sad and disturbing instances may not be suitable for everyone.

Excellent

Worth the read. Definitely a Dark book. This book feels more like an actual mafia book. My heart is in pieces. The Author did a good job with setting the scenes and guiding my emotions. That last page though....

One of the hardest reads yet. Emotionally wrecked.
