Publisher's summary

Diane Mott Davidson has been called "the Julia Child of mystery writers". Critics and fans alike can't resist coming back for more helpings of her best selling culinary mystery series, which includes Catering to Nobody and Dying for Chocolate.

Nasty weather has put Goldy's catering schedule on the skids for weeks. Now, happy to be working again, she looks forward to whipping up a sumptuous dinner for two wealthy clients who are celebrating their new venture - the reopening of the Eurydice Gold Mine. But when one of the men disappears, and her best friend is accused of murder, Goldy must find out who has turned the feast into a fiasco.

Davidson's spirited characters and narrator Barbara Rosenblat's irresistible voice create a combination that has just the right touches of humor, danger, and suspense. And all of Goldy's tantalizing recipes are included at the conclusion of The Main Corpse. You'll find tasty dishes like Tomato-Brie Pie and Chocoholic Cookies. There's even a treat for four-footed gourmets: Jake's Dog Biscuits.

More of What I like in a Goldy Mystery!

The ingredients I want in a Goldy mystery are all here, and, I might add, in a more generous measure than they have been of late: humor, an involving and
intriguing mystery, entertaining banter, and of course, the mouth watering recipes. I found the Killer Pancake to be kind of depressing, so I was relieved
that this book was such a better read. Barbara Rosenblat, as always, is a pleasure to listen to; love her. I have already purchased the next title Audible
offers, and am looking forward to it. More of the dog, Jake and the nut, McGuire; I don't want to spend my reading time thinking about the vain promises
on beauty jars, (apologies to Joni Mitchell), I like my culinary mysteries to have a bit of leavening , and this one has it.

Fine entry in the ongoing saga of our beloved cook

An enjoyable, almost zany yet serious, episode in the life of excellent cook Goldie, and her close allies...and enemies. I loved the role taken on by a student she helped before at Elk Park Prep. The re-entry of Beau worked well, too. This book is very enjoyable as an audio recording, and I love the narrator as well as the setting.

A Great read, I love all the Goldie stories

Would you consider the audio edition of The Main Corpse to be better than the print version?

I love the narrator, and didn't like the new narrator in two of the stories, the recipes are a big plus. I knit alot and enjoy listening to audio books as I knit. I have enjoyed the books, the recipes are easier in the books, but all in all I do like to knit and listen to the audio version of books.

Fine Book once again!

What did you love best about The Main Corpse?

So far, I have read 6 Goldy books and have enjoyed all of them. Well written and a good mystery formation. The characters are all like-able.

What other book might you compare The Main Corpse to and why?

Ellery Adams Mysteries by the Bay. They both have nice hooks to the stories and solid ones at that.

What about Barbara Rosenblat’s performance did you like?

She has become Mrs, M to me. I love her voice and the life she gives to the characters.

Any additional comments?

Though I may take a break from this long series for a while or two, I will always come back. These books are good read, well written and thought out.

good book

once again the main character talks too the murderer repeatedly without noticing that they are unstable and having sudden mood swings. now I see why she's a caterer and not a shrink. you meet the murderer in the previous book, and he is vastly different. this seems odd, and to most people, that means you need to pay closer attention. not the lead character, she is a great judge of people...
the story line is good, and the characters are believable, save the amazing luck if the lead character. the narrator brought the characters to life.

Not up to par with other books.

I have read the previous books in this series and was satisfied. This book is also pretty good. I don't like the narrator. She sound old. Goldy is supposed to be in her eayly 30s but this woman sounds like she is in her fifties. Another thing I did not like was that Goldy seem to lack common sense in this book. I don't want to give too much away, but there are some things about the law that everyone should know. All in all, it was a nice way to pass the time on my way to work. I will buy the next in the series.

Some Stupid Going On

I love this series but as others have pointed out- Marla going to bed after being attacked, for a whole weekend? No hospital? No police? Then she acts stupidly when those idiot police officers show up? Goldy does call Marla’s lawyer or doctor? And then the Great Escape- with Arch? Just no way this stuff should be happening. (I am on my second listen of the whole series though so obviously I enjoy it overall.)

over the top

This story was a tad over the top, incredulous. I can let most everything go except for them busting Marla out. There is absolutely no reason to do that and absolutely no way that there would not have been consequences.

Tom should have been livid.

disappointed in this effort.

Great cozy mystery

Goldie is on the toughest case yet. She and her son, Arch, along with his police rescue dog hunt down an embezzler. Very good cozy mystery.
