Publisher's summary
What would you focus on if you were no longer weighed down by your unwanted responsibilities? If you want to add something meaningful to your life, like traveling to exotic places, composing beautiful music, or experiencing a new friendship in a foreign language, you will need to figure out how to eliminate other things from your daily routine. Your time and money are not infinite so if you want to add something important to your life, there is no way to avoid removing something else. Unfortunately, these types of eliminations are very difficult to implement as they require removing something from your life that is already there for a specific reason. To make room for your passions are you going to sleep less? Are you going to spend less time with your family? Are you going to expend less energy at work? These are hard and often unrealistic trade-offs to make. The Minimalist Mindset is a book about a realistic process you can use to make deliberate decisions about how to prioritize how you live your life. This book walks you through the habits you can implement to consistently make sustainable trade-offs so that you can prioritize your passions and retake your freedom.

Everywhere around you are distractions: That text you respond to quickly, just to get it out of the way. The newest money-making side hustle to cross your mind. The evening spent organizing your overflowing kitchen cupboards. Disruptions are the enemies of a life well lived—both the new distractions of our generation and timeless ones that have existed for centuries. They all add up to make you feel restless, tired, and unfulfilled. They’re keeping you from living with joy, from accomplishing the good that only you can do.

Story
Most of us know we own too much stuff. We feel the weight and burden of our clutter, and we tire of cleaning and managing and organizing. While excess consumption leads to bigger houses, faster cars, fancier technology, and cluttered homes, it never brings happiness. Rather, it results in a desire for more. It redirects our greatest passions to things that can never fulfill, and it distracts us from the very lives we wish we were living. But it doesn't have to be this way.

Story
As high achievers, we’ve been conditioned to believe that the path to success is paved with relentless work. That if we want to overachieve, we have to overexert, overthink, and overdo. That if we aren’t perpetually exhausted, we’re not doing enough. But lately, working hard is more exhausting than ever. And the more depleted we get, the more effort it takes to make progress. Stuck in an endless loop of “Zoom, eat, sleep, repeat”, we’re often working twice as hard to achieve half as much.

Not what I was expecting
This book does not come across with what I was expecting to be a minimalist mindset. This book gives you ways to simplify your life. It felt very much like the Eastern Mindset. Don't waste time, energy, money or space with things that do not bring you joy and fulfillment. Throughout this book Dover gives checklists on how to evaluate what you are doing, is it helping you get to where you want to go, and if not then what can you do about it. This book is short and easy to follow. Something you can go back to again and again.

enlightening at any age
This book simplfies and organizes the thoughts a lot of us have had. To say the information was new to me may not be as correct as saying I never REALLY thought about it clearly. Knowing that these skills are of value to others and having them clearly outlined is a definite plus in my mission to minimalize and travel.
I highly recommend it.

Actionable, Comprehensive, Meaningful
If you could sum up The Minimalist Mindset in three words, what would they be?
Well worth it!
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Minimalist Mindset?
The chapter on Money was worth more than the price of the audiobook. I wish I would have listened to this earlier!
What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?
This is not just a book about minimalism, it is also a book about happiness and prioritization. The mindset around prioritization is the aspect of this book that will stay with me.
Any additional comments?
I wish I would have listened to this book earlier in my life. I am already seeing a positive difference in my life having had listened to this.

Must read but not great
This book is a must read because minimalism is so vital. There aren’t many resources I’ve seen on this topic that I find valuable.
The book isn’t as organized and put together as I would have hoped.
But if you get passed that you will gain some life changing insight. This mental approach works!

Got more than what I expected. Thank you!
Would you listen to The Minimalist Mindset again? Why?
Definitely. This is a very encouraging book and I want to keep myself motivated to live more with less! It covers more aspects than what I expected, such as emails, phone, living expenses, etc. time management, etc.
What does Dave Fung bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He did a great job, his narration was perfect for this type of book.
What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?
Addition is not possible without subtraction - live more with less,
Any additional comments?
Keep writing books like this one! I received this audio-book free for an honest review by the author, narrator, or publisher. Thank you!!!

The 4-Day Work Week For Your Life
What Tim Ferriss' 4-Day Work Week is to business so to is Danny Dover's Minimalist Mindset to the rest of your life. An excellent well organized book on structuring your life in this increasingly hectic world so you accomplish your goals and not get caught in the minutiae of little details. I can see using this as a guide whereby I constantly reread (or listen) to chapters for guidance.
