About this listen

Want more time to work on important goals? Need to build a specific habit? Struggling to change your life?

Imagine what life would be like if you started every morning with small actions that created a chain reaction of positive benefits throughout your life.

You eat a healthy breakfast, have a great conversation with your loved ones, and then begin your workday focusing on the important tasks. Then, throughout the day, you complete other habits that positively impact your top goals. I guarantee you'd feel more fulfilled, get more accomplished, and have a better direction for your career.

All of this is possiple when you add dozens of small changes to your daily routine. These habits don't require much effort. In fact:

  • Most of these habits only take five minutes or less to complete
  • And all this can be done when you follow a strategy known as "Habit Stacking ™"
  • One Routine + Multiple Habits = Habit Stacking

We all know it's not easy to add multiple new habits to your day. But what you might not realize is it's fairly easy to build a single new routine. The essence of habit stacking is to take a series of small changes and create a ritual that you follow on a daily basis.

Habit stacking works because you eliminate the stress of trying to change too many things at once. Your goal is to simply focus on a single routine that only takes about 15 to 30 minutes to complete. Within this routine is a series of actions (or small changes). All you have to do is to create a checklist and follow it every single day.

Interesting Method

The majority of this book was full of good information. I felt as though the concept of utilizing current habits to anchor new baby's l habits was useful. As someone who struggles with forming and maintaining habits, the idea of creating a routine that you can add new habits to is genius. I can actually use this method, it's actionable. The list of 127 habits was difficult to get through (I just played that part at 2X speed) but reading it would probably be easier than listening. Overall, it's a great tool that I believe I will actually use.

it was fine

What insight do you think you’ll apply from Habit Stacking?

i want to use some of apps but have not yet

the intro was long not sure if you needed to explain why you were redoing book or give such a long summary of what was to come. as audio book that part was to long

Gets you rethinking ways to improve your habits

What made the experience of listening to Habit Stacking the most enjoyable?

The most enjoyable part of Habit Stacking which also helped better understand the content was S.J. Scott's personal experience in his own journey stacking the habits bit by bit resulting in a healthier and happier version of himself.

What other book might you compare Habit Stacking to and why?

Habit Stacking can be compared to 29 Gifts: How a Month of Giving Can Change Your Life, though in this case, they are essentially gifts to yourself that also benefit others in the long term.

Which character – as performed by Greg Zarcone – was your favorite?

S.J. Scott, the author, I guess would be my favorite "character" as he described his personal experiences with habit stacking, which made it more personal and story like.

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

I need to start incorporating the habit of more directly telling my parents I love them on a more consistent basis. In fact, that was the first concept introduced in the book.

Any additional comments?

I definitely recommend listening to it, as Greg Zarcone speaks clearly and the ideas you get from Habit Stacking can start you on your own journey of a better self by merely changing one small habit at a time. On top of that, it comes with bonus material that frees you from having to take notes of links by going to the book notes S.J. Scott was nice enough to include with the book. My main suggestion would be to include a concise checklist of all the habits in pdf format to make it easier to remember and then chose which habits to follow. The book was just released last month, and he did say he will add more content so that may still happen later. Definitely, not a detractor from the book. Give it a listen! I was given a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for a review.

Motivational and concrete in ideas and actions

I purchased S.J.Scotts first version of this book and was able to use many of his ideas
This book is a big step forward with more specific helpful ideas and plans to organize and accomplish goals.
I recommend it for anyone who struggles with too much to do, too little time, who needs a blueprint to help guide priorities and outcomes.
This has helped me feel better about my daily to do list and not feel overwhelmed.

I was provided a free copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.

I would have purchased it anyway!

Habit Stacking Wow!

I'm going through the book. I'll dig into it later as I want to go through The Anti-Procrastination Habit first.

Listen & Bookmark then Implement

SJ Scott classifies and coordinates actions we can take to achieve what we all really want: To be Happy!

From "when's the best time for...", how much time, the hows plus the whys, the upside of the habit and the downside of not doing it.
There is a real life experience when even the habit master doesn't want to do an activity, run, and explains what happens when we do what we don't want to do in the moment yet have the discipline just to start. The answer is in your book.

Deserves rereads to pick up some more habits. Being healthy and wealthy aren't small achievements to do learn at any age.
