About this listen

Newspaper publisher and world traveler JJ Cavendish continually feels pressured to live up to her "Miracle Girl" nickname. Not many people know she’s living a carefully crafted lie. She may not hide ties to the LGBT community, but she does hide past struggles with addiction.

When the Colorado native is handpicked to take the helm at a dying Denver newspaper, she ends up reconnecting with her long lost love in this contemporary lesbian romance. Only there’s a catch. If JJ fires the most belligerent editor at the paper, she risks losing the love of her life.

Mid-afternoon office romps abound in this romantic comedy while also focusing on what it takes for a newspaper to remain relevant in this age of social media.

Must JJ lose everything in order to gain a life more fully her own?

I loved this book

This is the fourth or fifth book of TB Markinson that I am listening to, and just like the other ones I love this one as well.
Saying that I need to say that more details about the miracle would have been better. But it is a great story.
TJ Richards narrated very well, she has a good voice, and sounds interested in the book, not just doing her job.

Enjoyable story

I enjoyed this story. I appreciate that they were over 35. The setting was great and the characters were nicely developed and seemed very real. The narrator did a very good job with the voices.

Having lived in Denver I do thing they understated the city 3 it's beautiful surroundings. The story made it come across as if JJ had been transferred to a town with one red light! Denver is gorgeous and full of diversity, culture and a ton of activities to do.

That said, I enjoyed the story very much.

WOW! I LOVED THIS BOOK!

This is the 1st book I've read by this author and it was so much better than expected. Obviously the story line interested me or I wouldn't have purchased the book, but, WOW, I just finished the book and I have a silly grin on my face. I don't always enjoy the romance books where they met many years ago and fell in love but something happened and now they're older and could they fall in love again... but this one was different. Most of this story was in the present tense, but the needed parts from the past were there when needed. I thought it was so well written. I really am impressed. The narrator did an excellent job. I listen to lots of audio books since I am in my car a lot so trust me when I say you won't be disappointed with this book. Now I'm going to shop around for another book by TB Markinson :)

Romance, politics, mystery, intrigue = great story!!

TB knows how to cook up the perfect recipe for a fabulous story. She takes one tangled romantic history and tosses in a dash of suspense. She then mixes it throughly with angst until it is well blended. Finally, she pops it in the oven for a perfectly concocted page turner. What more could a connoisseur of lesbian fiction ask for?

Life is messy

JJ may be in her 40’s but she clueless about so many things Her and Claire’s lives are messy but so are most people’s. This story speaks the truth about their lives and shows that you can’t run away because it will follow you. JJ finally gets the meaning of One Day at a Time. TJ Richards did an amazing job giving these characters a voice with feelings.

Great narrator! Ups and downs re the story, but...

I was on a roller coaster with this one. In the end, I was glad I purchased it and couldn’t wait to get on to the second book, The Fall Girl. I like that I didn’t always know what was waiting around the corner. It’s not exactly a predictable story. Recommend, especially as a lead in to book 2!!

Great story, Great narration!

I loved this story. I could feel the strong connection between JJ and Claire . I liked that the author allowed the reader /listener to go into through the growth and development of both Claire and JJ . The narration was perfect! It really brought the story to life. Way to go TB Markinson and TJ Richards!!!
