About this listen

An isolated compound. A so-called family. A collision course with unthinkable violence.

When Winona rents a room at the eccentric Mirror House, she hopes to make new friends. What she gets instead is a “family” led by the charismatic psychologist Simon Spellmeyer.

But if she wants to stay at Mirror House, Winona must join in following Simon’s strange protocols for self-improvement. Warning bells chime inside her, but the allure of transformation keeps her hooked. While his methods are disturbing, the results are undeniable.

Soon, Simon’s vision for their future spirals in a darker direction. The group relocates, expands, and Winona’s once-close bond with her housemates grows fractured by mistrust until she’s trapped among people she hardly recognizes—including herself.

Can Winona wake up to the true cost of Simon’s vision in time to get out alive? Or will the utopian dream descend into a tragic nightmare?

I thoroughly enjoyed the story and the performance for The Mirror House Girls. This is a psychological thriller that follows a woman who gets involved with a cult. She is desperate to belong somewhere and finds family in the most unusual way. I read this and thought about what truly goes on in these types of situations and my heart went out to the MC. Well done! I could not stop listening to see what would happen next! Highly recommend for anyone who enjoys psych thrillers.

Chilling tale

Predictable. The narrator voices do not match the age or the personality of the women. I was waiting and waiting and waiting for it to take off. Never does. One monotone uninteresting story. I had to finish it bc I paid for it and I hate leaving books unread. But yeah don’t waste your money. Also side note the main characters name is Simon and the amount of times they said “Simon Says” was ridiculous. I struggled not to giggle every time.

Meh waste of a credit

There aren’t many reviews on this new title yet, and I know that can be a little discouraging when deciding to spend a credit. Don’t let that stop you!
NO SPOILERS IN THIS REVIEW.

First off, I love longer novels—but only when they’re well-written. There’s a fine line between necessary depth and unnecessary length, and this book gets it just right. The character development is rich, and the pacing keeps you engaged with just the right amount of tension.

If you’ve read the plot summary and the concept intrigues you, trust me—this book delivers.

As for the Audible experience: The narrator is fantastic. She doesn’t just read the story; she brings it to life without being distracting. The recording quality is excellent, the voice acting is natural and immersive, and each character flows seamlessly.

Highly recommend!

It was a fun story, BUT super random…super weird how the narrator ended up where she did…story draggggggged on too which didn’t help with the narrator’s believability…IMO

Good Story BUT draggggggged ON & eventually the leading character became almost unbelievable & irritating.

I had high hopes for this one. I went into it blind. Very similar to When She Returned by Lucinda Barry. I think if I hadn’t read that one already I would have enjoyed this one more. The characters were frustrating at times but I think that comes with the territory. It was written/narrated well.

It was okay

Such an accurate portrayal of the manipulation and gaslighting that takes place in a person’s world before waking up in a cult. At least in my experience. It was triggering but healing.

Disturbingly cringey and accurate

This was a very good book. A little bit wordy in the middle but overall an interesting story. I will say that the narrator of this book was amazing. I was going between a 3 and a 4 star and the narration bumped it to 4.

Awesome narrator
