Izzy Harrington's fiancé is a successful entrepreneur and everyone's friend, but today she's waiting for him to get home so she can tell him they're over. Except Brad never arrives.

Instead, three angry men knock on the door and insist on talking to Brad. When the police arrive asking difficult questions and demanding to see his passport, Izzy's packed suitcases suddenly take on a whole new meaning.

Brad's disappearance sends ripples through their small town and a furious mob is camped on Izzy's lawn, desperate to recover their losses. They have Izzy in their crosshairs, determined to make her pay for Brad's audacious con.

She’s one of my all time favorite authors

I’ve read every one of her books. She’s my favorite character development author. You truly feel like you know these people!
This book was no different. You became quite invested in the characters, not wanting it to end.
The first part of the book is a bit different than her others and I can’t quite pinpoint what the difference was, but then it was like settling back into the Fiona of her previous books and it all made sense. I love seeing the evolution of the characters’ ability to live, introspect, forgive etc.
I highly recommend!! If you’ve never read one of Fiona Lowe’s books, I might recommend reading a few of her others before this one, but then definitely come back to read this.

my least favorite Fiona Lpwe

I did not love the first half of the story. the money club bit is plain boring. it is clear where the stepy is going and a ponzi scheme is not that interesting. the second part, the aftermath of sorts is much better and more in the spirit of a Fiona Lowe novel.

Somewhat intriguing

I enjoyed the last half of the book but the first half dragged. I think especially so because the narrator made all the men sound the same and barley audible.

Great story and narrator!

This book has lots going for it. In general it deals with every day hard working people and how they try to cope with the fallout of a devastating Ponzi scheme. But it’s more than that. This is such a good writer that I felt like I came to know the characters, so in the aftermath of the scheme I felt terrible for them. I could barely stop listening to take care of anything else until I finally knew what became of all these characters. Wonderful story!
