About this listen

Strapped by a chauffeur's wages, Michael Rogers' want of a better life seems out of reach. Especially elusive is a magnificent piece of property in Kingston Bishop - until a chance meeting with a beautiful heiress makes his dreams possible. Marrying her is the first step. Building the perfect home is the next. Unfortunately Michael ignored the local warnings about the deadly curse buried in the tract of land, and living out his dreams may exact a higher price than he ever imagined.

Praised as one of Agatha Christie's most unusual forays into Gothic psychological suspense, this novel of fate, chance, and the nature of evil was a personal favorite of the author's as well.

Unexpectedly different...and worth every minute!

Seemed a little slow to start and I wondered if there was going to be any intrigue at all, but that was the genius of this story...lull you into expecting one thing and getting something quite different - I loved it! Stick with it and you'll enjoy it too

Holy Crap - SO GOOOOOD!!

I bought a 3 in one book with classic Agatha mysteries and this one was the 3rd book, and was my absolute favorite what a book. I personally didn’t see the end coming I was SHOOK! I was mad for 3 days thinking about the end, mad at how good it was and how I didn’t even think it could have ended like that in a million years. So unexpected… such a great book! Recommend.

One of Agatha Christie's best

Once you've finished Endless Night for the first time, you'll want to listen again to see how cleverly Agatha tricked you throughout the book. More of a thriller than a detective story, this book stands out for its incredible psychological exploration of the main character. Even so, it's so full of foreshadowing and symbolism that it could be taught in an English class. Don't be fooled by the initial banality of romance -- the plot contains multitudes.

“In my end is my beginning.” Mary Queen of Scotts.

Twists and turns as only Agatha Christie can write. I was totally wrong about the whole book. I was swept away and enamored during the story. Narration as only Mr HF can speak the words. The ending? Buy the book . I’m sorry it’s over. I will re-read and see if I can catch anything apparent when it first takes place. Enjoy your reading. - Barbara

Surprised

The ending fooled me. I was sad and shocked. Great story teller. Length was just right.

SPOILER ALERT: Great but doesn’t make sense a the end

SPOILER ALERT:
It is great but should have the bad thoughts at the end showed up in the beginning of we are being told about his thoughts?

Amazing!

Even though I had to read this book for school, it ended up being such a great read! The twists and turns were mostly unexpected, and the other parts are quite sweet. It always a plus to hear a British man imitate different women's voices as well. Lol

Kind of abrupt....

It was kind of abrupt, how it turned out. Some of the reviews say that ending was unexpected or surprising. I find that the best word for me is abrupt. Cant say much else. Performance was awesome tho.

Atypical Christie ending

Wild ending, typical great Hugh Fraser performance - solid atmosphere although it has somewhat lackluster plot
