About this listen

Murder, mystery and a dog, and cat, of distinction. Heathcliff Lennox investigates.

Ladies man, dandy, charming rogue, thief. Montague Morgan has a buccaneering reputation and he doesn't give a damn—until he falls in love.
He has a plan, he needs money, and he knows how to get it. He and his lover conspire to escape to exotic lands with stolen gold.
But the gold belongs to dangerous people, and plans can go awry. Morgan disappears, has he escaped, or has he fallen prey to lethal retribution?
Lennox's friend, ex Chief Inspector Swift, is embroiled, and Lennox steps in to help, but his wedding is fixed for Christmas Eve and it's only a few days away. As the mystery around Montague Morgan deepens, so the tension rises....

Major Heathcliff Lennox—ex WW1 war pilot, 6 feet 3 inches, tousled dark blond hair, age around 30—named after the hero of Wuthering Heights by his romantically minded mother – much to his great annoyance.

Best series I’ve ever listened to!

This book series would be so wonderful made into a TV series like Downton Abbey! The narrator Sam Dewhurst Phillips is amazing! His voice and accent are what drew me to the first book and the story line keeps me coming back. I never want this series to end. I highly recommend listening.

fantastic

I hope miss Menuhin never stops writing this series. Love the narrator too and I think it was an excellent choice to have him narrate the whole series. I hope he never stops doing this series too

As good as expected

The mystery was good, the Lennox & Swift pairing gets better & better, and our hero has his day. The only monkey wrench for me: Canon in B? Another mystery!

Narration outstanding

One of the very best narrators. He is just amazing. Can do any voice, any age including children, and any accent. I’m just gobsmacked

Tough one to rate

I’ve always liked this narrator, but with this book I realized just how AMAZING he is! Quick changes between British, American, and Australian without a flaw….wow! As always, I love Lennox’s character, but for some reason, the other characters were tiresome to me, and the story a letdown. I’m sure it’s just a preference thing. I love the series as a whole, and look forward to the next book

interesting funny and sweet

I really love this series which is one step or two above an overly sweet, simple, cozy mystery

Fascinating and terrific

Sam Dewhurst-Phillips could read an instruction booklet and I would be fascinated. He makes the marvelous plot that Karen Menuhin has woven come to life. As aggravating as many of the uptight and privileged women are they can be mesmerizing also. This book abounds in the twists and turns I’ve grown to love in Menuhin’s books.
