About this listen

The Government has sought to implement a new Network plan to eliminate traitors, secrets, and deceit. Willingly sacrificed, it also eliminated individuality. Soon, it became International Law to join the Network. Only a handful of rebels escape, hiding away. They have finally successfully removed one person from the Network. This is his story, his attempt to overthrow the Network and bring back individuality.

Technology Fantasy Page Turner

Somewhere between The Giver and The Matrix lies The Network. Booth writes an impressive story of what happens to a world too clued in to social media/internet/the network. Though it took me a little time to click with this book, once I was in, it was easy to get sucked into the story (much like the Network itself). A battle between the Network and the Resistance, this becomes a fast paced story full of great characters, action and some unexpected twists (don't worry no spoilers). My only complaint was that I wish there had been more backstory, because there are some truly wonderful characters who just don't get enough page time. Joel Perez does a fabulous job narrating The Network. This would be a great read for any Fiction fan.

Good read

Rather enjoyable, fast paced book. As much story as many longer novels, but not drawn out. Futuristic and imaginative. And a very interesting prologue to conclude. Narrator spoke a bit fast, and repeated a number of lines, but a good choice other than that.

Developing Author on the Rise

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

This is the second book I've read from Jesse Booth (Core of the Nations is the other one I read). There is a big improvement in his writing this time around. I look forward to reading his next book.I read a good portion (about 2/3) of the book a couple of years ago soon after it was written. I found it engaging, and there were some really good moments (like when Seven is himself surpised by his own abilities that he never knew he had). I listened to the audio version of the book recently, and I was pleased with the quality of the audio performance (other than just a few minor gliches). I enjoyed the first 2/3 of the book even more than the first time around, and was happy to see a good conclusion. I would definitely recommend this book to people who enjoy reading early works from developing authors.

Would you be willing to try another book from Jesse B. Booth? Why or why not?

Yes, I am looking forward to seeing additional develope in Mr. Booth's writing.

What three words best describe Joel Perez’s voice?

Expressive, young, engaging

Do you think The Network needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No, it stands just fine on its own.

Engaging story! Very enjoyable!

I really enjoyed this book. The story is engaging and well though out. My only complaint would bw that it isn't long enough. I truly was wanting more. The narrator did a passable job, but he read very fast and sometimes made it hard to follow. Overall a great listen. I would recommend it!
