About this listen

Alice was a hopeful young graduate student when, on a beautiful August night, her body was found in the woods. She'll always remember the night she was murdered. And she still suffers the grief and rage that destroyed her family.

But what Alice regrets most is the last fight she had with her boyfriend, Enrico - and the fact that she never had the chance to tell him something that would have changed everything.

A decade later, Enrico has returned to the provincial town where Alice lived and died, to sell his family home. All he wants is to forget. But then, among the things he left behind, he finds an old cell phone...and unread texts sent from Alice's phone.

Now, her terrible secrets are about to swallow up everyone she knew, loved, and trusted. For Enrico, discovering them is his only chance to put his lost love - and the demons of his past - to rest.

CASSANDRA CAMPBELL'S NARRATION FLOWS LIKE A WELL CHOSEN PIECE OF CLASSICAL MUSIC. THE STORY IS ARTFULLY TOLD, INTRIGUING AND INTENSE, WITH JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF CREEPY THROWN IN! THE CHARACTERS ARE INTERESTING AND COMPLEX. I FIND MYSELF THINKING ABOUT THEM AND I WANT TO KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT IN THEIR LIVES. THE STORY COULD HAVE BEEN HEAVY, BUT THE AUTHOR CREATED AN ENDEARING CHARACTER WHOSE INNER DIALOGUE PROVIDES A GENTLE COMIC RELIEF. THE BAR HAS NOW BEEN RAISED FOR THRILLER/SUSPENSE NOVELS!

THE BAR HAS BEEN RAISED!!!!

I really enjoyed this story. It seem like I could see it happening. At first there were too many people to remember but a quarter of the way in I began to distinguish and recall characters. I think I could have had more of an ending but I guess there was only one person left to reconcile with the death of the girl. Very sad story but well written.

Very Good Plot

If you could sum up The Night of the Moths in three words, what would they be?

interesting, narrated beautifully, relationship-focused

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The plot did move well - not like a traditional thriller, though. It was a bit more meandering - in and out of the characters' lives, and I actually really liked that. This was more of a cross between a novel and a mystery.

What about Cassandra Campbell’s performance did you like?

I ADORED her beautiful, lilting Italian voice. Half the time I hoped the book would never end, just so I could keep listening to her!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The book didn't give me any extreme reactions - but it always produced enough emotional investment for me to want to keep reading.

Interesting - Mystery and Relationships

Very well written! The narrator was one of the best I’ve ever listened to! Enjoy!

Excellent!

This story could have been a good read. But there was no justice for the mentally challenged man. The author wrote as though his life wasn't worth vindicating. All secrets were kept to protect a group of evil hearted selfish people.

No Justice For The Mentally challenged

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The story content

What was most disappointing about Riccardo Bruni and Anne Milano Appel - translator ’s story?

There were parts of the story that were unexpectantly crude and sexual. I won't listen to books with sexual content.

Not my cup of tea
