About this listen

Inspired by Beauty and the Beast and the myth of Hades and Persephone, this lush and enchanting enemies-to-lovers fantasy romance is perfect for fans of Sarah J. Maas, Jennifer L. Armentrout, and Scarlett St. Clair.

Wren of Edgewood is no stranger to suffering. With her parents gone, it’s Wren’s responsibility to ensure she and her sister survive the harsh and endless winter, but if the legends are to be believed, their home may not be safe for much longer.

For three hundred years, the land surrounding Edgewood has been encased in ice as the Shade, a magical barrier that protects the townsfolk from the Deadlands beyond, weakens. Only one thing can stop the Shade’s fall: the blood of a mortal woman bound in wedlock to the North Wind, a dangerous immortal whose heart is said to be as frigid as the land he rules. And the time has come to choose his bride.

When the North Wind sets his eyes on Wren’s sister, Wren will do anything to save her—even if it means sacrificing herself in the process. But mortal or not, Wren won’t go down without a fight…

The North Wind is a stand-alone, enemies-to-lovers slow-burn fantasy romance, the first in a series sprinkled with Greek mythology.

This was sadly underwhelming :/ there was a lot of themes that I found interesting but I wanted more from this

This was underwhelming

The male narrator only speaks in the epilogue. Pretty good story. Was hoping for more believable enemies before lovers.

Pretty good

The female narrator, Carlotta, is not enjoyable to listen to especially when she voices the male character. Ugh it’s awful. During the story the MMC must have said “I’m a God” like 50 times. The FMC was overly naive, narrow minded, and refused to adjust her mention to the changing story line so much so that while reading it I had to roll my eyes like okay enough already. I will not read book 2.

Narrator and character development or lack thereof

I really enjoyed this. I think it would be perfect for people who like the IDEA of Acotar but didn't like the execution nor the writing.
the premise and overall story isn't anything crazy or new, but the writing was beautiful and I really liked the chemistry between the different characters.

a nice solid 4 star listen

I thought the story was slow and king of boring. I struggled to like the FMC and thought the romance was forced.

Good narrator

the slow burn was perfect and the story was so good! Great beauty and the beast spinoff

absolutely love it!

Very heavy on tropes and cliches for a beauty and the beast retelling. It wasn't overwhelming great but also not awful, especially if you like this trope.

I really enjoyed the characters in this book. They were cleverly thought out and had witty lines! The story was a bit unfocused and I lost interest at times, but something interesting was sure to happen if I was patient. Overall pretty good book.

Great characters, storyline lost in the middle

I had high hopes for this, but was quite disappointed. The performance was good but the story was seriously lacking. A boring, basic rehashing of the usual romantasy tropes. I kept waiting for it to get better but it just never did. Waste of a credit, sadly.

Kind of a slog
