About this listen

The old west's most legendary lost treasure. An outlaw's stolen tombstone. A desperado's grave secret....

Twenty-six years ago, outlaw Billy the Kid’s tombstone was stolen from Fort Sumner, New Mexico. Now, it has mysteriously been returned. When teenage brothers Pancho and Dorado Dumez steal it themselves, they get more than they bargained for.

Encased inside the tombstone is a map that leads to the Southwest’s greatest treasure: The Lost Adams Diggings—a canyon comprised of solid gold. But the brothers aren’t the only ones on the treasure’s trail. So is bounty hunter Seven McCaw, and along with him comes a modern day incarnation of the Santa Fe Ring—a secretive organization that once ruled the West.

Forced onto the open roads of New Mexico, the brothers must solve the mystery of Billy the Kid’s death and find the lost canyon before the Ring does....

Cowboys, car chases, secret societies, burning effigies and ancient occult knowledge, all peppered with genuine old west and new mexico history. A fun read with great characters and surprising plot twists. This book is an awesome reminder that magic is always seething just beneath the veneer of the mundane. Highly recommend!

A wild and exhilarating adventure!

A 15 year old boy starts from a goal of stealing a goat mascot to fun adventures down in New Mexico, and what fun it was!
Very well and fun written and excellent narrator!! I was totally capitulated by it all.
I think this is a great book for older kids grades 7 and above and YA. But it’s also fun for those that need a fun story at any age.

What a fun adventure!
