About this listen

I am Anda, and the lake is my mother. I am the November storms that terrify sailors and sink ships. With their deaths, I keep my little island on Lake Superior alive.

Hector has come here to hide from his family until he turns 18. Isle Royale is shut down for the winter, and there's no one here but me. And now him.

Hector is running from the violence in his life, but violence runs through my veins. I should send him away, to keep him safe. But I'm half human, too, and Hector makes me want to listen to my foolish, half-human heart. And if I do, I can't protect him from the storms coming for us.

Contains mature themes.

Intoxicating, Beautiful, and Heart Wrenching

It has been a while since I have listened to a book that has pulled me in so quickly. The narrators did a stunning job and the story was woven beautifully! The speed of the story progression was perfect and I fell in love with the characters. A little different, something like a breath of fresh air.
I highly recommend this book!

Just one word? UNIQUE

I've read many fantasy books, but none quite like this. The characters are "real" in this book. Many books I've read the teenagers are irritatingly annoying or WAY too old.
I didn't read any MATURE themes as they said. It was a PG book I would say.

Very intriguing, would definitely recommend

I can’t even criticize anything, the voice actors are really good, the writing style is very unique, I found it captivating. I’m definitely interested in reading more of the authors works and I’d definitely recommend checking it out :)

Loved it

Great story. Absolutely loved it. I’m going to have to check out this authors other work. Started out a little slow for me but overall great story and loved both the narrators.

Very Different

This book is an eerily Different Love Story. The parallels between this young couple’s lives were interestingly undeniable. I enjoyed it until the end...I had hoped for either more to it or a sequel. But overall it was unique and interesting!

excellent

a new way to tell a story of creatures of the lake but still a predictable ending but doesn't mean it's not good

The November Girl

The story is very unusual even for a fantasy book. I loved the writing style, too - very vivid and alive. I will definitely follow this author.

Diverse characters

I forgot to mention in my previous review how much I loved that a biracial character played the main character. It felt relatable and you hold so much understanding and compassion for both Hector and Onda and their shared struggles in life. Thank you to the writer !
