About this listen

2045, the Arctic Circle. A crew of six aboard the research vessel, The Nox, embark upon a voyage through the melting ice and Arctic dark in search of the last of the polar bears. The mission represents a ray of hope in a world ravaged by climate change, but it quickly becomes clear that some on board are in search of more than bears....

Isolation and the disorientation of 24/7 darkness soon have the group losing their grip on reality – accidents, nightmares, or hauntings – no one can be sure, but the voyage seems cursed. For Professor Clara Fitzgerald, the mission quickly turns from conservation to survival as she realises that danger lurks not only out on the ice, but on The Nox itself.

The Nox is a nightmare fuelled SciFi thriller that asks how far is too far to save the world.

Great drama

I think the story itself was a bit confusing, coming back and forth. And I would've enjoyed more details about the characters. So the story is not perfect because it's short. Haha
The narration and the sound effects are amazing, it's super immersive.

Icy gripping and raw!!

All of this gets a big 5 star rating on this end. Raw, visceral, and chillingly good, he story and sound made you feel like you were in the Arctic all the way through. The story held you like the icy grip of the forbidden land, and the whole thing created that ambiance of cold dark, psychological suspense that's hard to find here lately. Creators and performers alike did a phenomenal job here. I'm totally blind, and love good produced audio dramas, and this is definitely no exception. I love to read, but, in this, I'm reminded of just why I love audiobooks, and audio dramas, nothing quite puts you there any better than audio, and paired with imagination, it's an awesome thing. I honestly started this Sunday afternoon and couldn't leave it alone. It had me from the opening. Another great Audible production for sure. Now, going to look for my next read. Have fun, and oh yeah. Stay warm and watch out for bears. They're out there.

An experience in visualization!

The narration and sound made this a great book to experience. A mysterious rollercoaster of thrills. Will listen to it again!

intensive three to four hrs.

for such a short storyline, there was so much that was happening it became confusing. but it's a story with very real issues. I liked it but not enough to Play it again.

Sound Off

Too many sound effects! Would make for a good Syfi movie but all of the extra noises was a bit much and too distracting.

Strong character performances. Well written mind twister of time yet I never felt lost.

Short enough to invest in the story but long enough to invest in the story. I enjoyed the characters and the psychological bits about how we needs our dreams to process our trauma.

Repetitive

Very well cast and performed and produced. But like all monster horror audio, it immediately runs into the problem that there isn’t a big variety of scared acting noises or ways to make things go bump in the night. So it’s multiple hours listening to the same sounds. I really can’t wait until this story fad passes. Note that it sounds like it’s a repackaged podcast.

Good story; hard to follow

There was too much action to really follow what was going on. Lots of loud noises without knowing what was going on. Lunch was fantastic though.

Great performance for a story that fizzles

Really great performance but the story was just kind of annoying. There was no secret…figured it out pretty quickly and you’re limping along with the chaos for a bit too long after the reveal…for nothing.
