About this listen

Melanie Hoskins, an experienced firefighter-paramedic, has been recruited by a very selective and secret organisation known as The Division. Their mission is to protect the populace and secure the continuation of the United States. The Division is only activated at times of dire need. This just so happens to be one of those times. Based in New York City, Hoskins is forced to leave her civilian life and those she loves behind, and join the front line to try to control the 'dollar flu' virus that has been spreading throughout the city.

Not everyone agrees with how this outbreak should be dealt with, and those who used to keep the city streets free of waste have taken matters into their own hands and formed 'The Cleaners'. This group of sanitation workers, custodians and janitors, believe that the only true way to clean the city, is to burn away the infection, including those who still carry it. The mission is clear, until Hoskins discovers that one of The Cleaners’ newest recruits is someone she can’t bring herself to view as the enemy.

Based on the hit Ubisoft game Tom Clancy’s The Division and starring Katee Sackoff and Shannon Woodward, The Division: Hearts on Fire is an action packed drama that explores duty, love and the impossible situation of a woman trapped between the two.

Hearts on Fire is written and directed by Kc Wayland, an award-winning writer, producer, editor, director and United States Army veteran whose film and audio work has been enjoyed around the world.

An immersive experience for Agents

This story pulls you in as if you are right there with the characters. Love the use of the background ambience. It’s like listening to in-game cinema. I get bored with a lot of audiobooks, but definitely not this one. If you’re a fan of the games, you owe it to yourself to give this one a shot.

Lackluster all the way around, glad it was free

I had really high hopes for this. I'm a VERY serious gamer, and I have played the Division and Division 2 for years, and loved them both. On top of that, I'm a HUGE Old-Time Radio fan, and listen to the old-school shows almost daily. So when I saw an opportunity to combine one of my favorite video games with a radio-drama, I was really pumped. But then I listened to it...

I'm not really sure where to begin with the things that put me off. There were a number of areas where they really dropped the ball. Some of the performances weren't very good, and it sounded a lot more like a cheesy soap opera than anything else. While some of the cast did a decent job, some were just cardboard sounding.

The story itself was almost too silly to be believed. Our heroine just happens to be pitted against the villain that just happens to be her sister, which resulted in an ending that was just plain sappy.

Then there were a number of times where these super secret, superbly trained agents just lose their cool and go off-mission under pressure. Again, just not believable at all in a few instances and all of it together really made it far less enjoyable, especially when combined with the combination of over acting, bad acting, and just plain mediocre acting. Even the interactions between the husband and wife just felt wooden, over-dramatized, and cheesy.

All in all, I'm not unhappy with the experience, but only because it was free. If I'd paid for it--I'd have been far less happy with the result. I've heard a number of other Audible originals that were much better than this. I'm not really sure what it was that ultimately doomed this to mediocrity, but I hope they will do a better job next time around. Definitely surprised this has been rated so highly.

Just wow

Loved the voice acting, flow of the story, and overall the story itself. So many emotional moments, the last one toward the end was super emotional. I think this is a nice listening not only to the video game fans but also to someone random like me.

Great story taking place during The Divison 1

Nice story get a glimpse of what it's like to be a Division agent during the events of The Divison 1. Makes me want to replay The Division 1 all over again. Definitely recommend giving this a listen if you are a fan of The Divison.

Not a book

This audible performance is more akin to listening to a movie than listening to a book being read. Listening to a book engages my imagination more because the author (if he/she has done their job well) describes things like rooms that people walk into, characters in the book, details of struggles, etc. This performance doesn’t have any details like that so I’m left guessing what characters might look like, what the room/building/garage/hospital room -really anything - looks like. I get sounds, like a car door closing, but nothing about the car or the journey. I get suspenseful music, letting me know something is about to happen, but not details really leading up to it that make me sit on the edge of my seat. I easily put this listen down several times to do other things because it just wasn’t that engaging. The performance by the actors was outstanding, best part of the book and the only thing that kept me going to the end.

5🌟s isn't Enough!

I have lissend to audio books for some time now. This is an adventure in your minds imagination. It reminded me as a child lissing to peter and the wolf, the should effects that made the characters visible. This is that, times "10". The readers were superb. the music sound effects so realistic. The work that went into this, Needs and deserves top alkalades. WOW is an understatement. And I cannot "not" give words to the Author. The story was exciting, edge of your seat, heart warming and shocking. What a ride. This type of presentation has to have a category type of its own so we can select and know how to select. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
A new category . Thank You.

Grit and Heart

I really enjoyed the sound effects because they match the story really well. This is not something that everyone will enjoy, but I certainly did. The voice actors were excellent and the plot is interesting and there’s good character development. I found it very entertaining and worthwhile.
