About this listen

Deep space holds secrets…

…and one astronomer for NASA has found a big one.

But it's not what she thinks.

Dr. Melody Adams, a physicist at the Gemini North Observatory, was studying Pluto in the telescope data, and it struck her as odd. The numbers didn't make sense. Could there be an extraterrestrial object in our solar system?

She followed protocol.

The scientific community didn't believe her.

And before she knew what happened, her career was over.

The day that changed Melody's life was like any other over the previous two years. She'd found she had a gift for writing, and her career as an author had almost healed the pain of losing her job. When the Secret Service rang her bell, everything changed.

Something was nearing Saturn…

…and it was slowing down.

Had she been right about the object?

You'll love this hard science fiction novel because Melody is about to find out that everything she knew about space and time was wrong.

This story started a little slow and I was unsure if I would like it. But it clicked and was worth the read. Fascinating concept and one not too far off reality. Only part that was not realistic was the stupidity with which the crew entered Serenity. People that undisciplined would never have been chosen for the mission.

Good story, wish it went further

Interesting read. Great idea and loved how the story unfolded. The end felt a bit rushed after the long wait to uncover the mystery of The Object. But I really enjoyed this book.

Thought provoking

A solid story matched by a wonderful performance. I loved the use of current discovery to fashion this "what-if" fiction.

excellent performance!

the only problem I have with this story, besides the fact that it's a little slow, is that the author insists on using the phrase "umpteen times",... well, umpteen times. lol bad editing I guess. the story is fine though.

umpteen times.

Not your typical space opera, pretty unique twist on… well, I won’t spoil it for you. 😎

Really cool story, glad I tried it out!

I listened to the audible version of this book, and it has been my favorite hard science fiction novel to date. I have read or listened to only a handful of such novels in my life. I heartily recommend this. I feel the other Audible reviews unfairly and unjustly rate this book.

Loved this book

I enjoyed it and it is my first time hearing the narrator do a book she did good, some of the things that happened were pretty predictable, but overall, I really enjoyed it

Slightly predictable at times but entertaining read

This definitely captures my attention, not only that I'm aware and know when I'm dreaming and sometimes interact. My thought is I enjoyed a new concept of "Alien" as we read and see scifi. And always wondered why most SciFi writers portray the world's we visit are alien, when in fact we are alien to that world

Amazing concept

well so a couple of things that I have to mention but let me start by saying yes I did finish it so I at least enjoyed it that much. but there were some downsides. the twists in the story were all telegraph so far out that you could probably see them from a distant Galaxy and when you sit there thinking to yourself no that's too audious they wouldn't do that it's going to be something else no it's going to be that. also there's a lot of Elon fanboy in this. I worked for SpaceX I've met the dude and I do not like the dude and I think the negative press about him as well deserved. and I wish that people were less blind to that. it didn't need to be so that the book had explicit references to SpaceX up and down the latter chapters. I mean I guess I get it but like still bad taste. also I had enough politics. way too much politics oh my God the politics we do not need to have the politics. in this story the Democrats are the great evil. oh my God enough flipping politics.

it's decidedly made with some plot holes. it's okay I mean I finished it

wonderfully entertaining in all aspects. A great story theme written in a way to keep the reader interested throughout. A sensational imagination connected to expert knowledge of the subject.
Maybe the best SFi book I've ever rea and I've read thousands.

Just the best
