About this listen

Ken Blanchard's phenomenal best sellers, such as The One Minute Manager and Raving Fans, have made him a globally recognized business legend. Now, he has joined with noted business author Steve Gottry to explore one of the most common and insidious problems plaguing the workplace: procrastination.

The On-Time, On-Target Manager tells the highly recognizable story of Bob, a middle manager who tends to put things off to the last minute. He misses deadlines, rationalizes, justifies, and tries to explain. Luckily, Bob is sent to his company's CEO, a new kind of CEO, the "Chief Effectiveness Officer", who helps him deal with the three negative side effects of procrastination: lateness, poor work quality, and stress to himself and others. Bob learns how to overcome procrastination, and transforms himself into a productive On-Time, On-Target Manager through the Three P strategy.

With this engaging parable, Blanchard and Gottry tackle the problem of procrastination head-on, offering practical strategies any professional can immediately put into practice to improve his or her performance.

I always knew that I was a procrastinator, what I did not know was the impact I had on my family, friends and co-workers by being one. This book opened my eyes to see that every excuse I have for not doing something or getting something done on time was due to my lack of planning and commitment. I have always felt I was good under perssure and did my best work up against a dead line. This book helped me realize I can plan ahead and stay ahead and feel better about the result. The most impressive part is I do not have to make excuses any more.

At the beginning, as many other books of this series, it seems author is playing obvious things. But as you go further in reading you realize that he's going to dig deeply in uncorrect, though very common, behaviors at work.

It could change the way you value your chores

What did you like best about The On-Time, On-Target Manager? What did you like least?

+ quick read/listen, in the One Minute Manager style. Liked the "Bill of Rights" and have memorized it; one good way to think about a project and organizing a team around project management. Didn't think the story line was as powerful as other Blanchard books.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

na

Have you listened to any of Brian Corrigan’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

no

What did you take away from The On-Time, On-Target Manager that you can apply to your work?

see above

Any additional comments?

no

I think I'll put off this review.

There are one or two good tips that really worth me to know and learn, other than that the story style is too childish, and wasting a lot time on none core contents.

Sparks in no good

Probably

Would you be willing to try another one of Brian Corrigan’s performances?

Probably not

Was The On-Time, On-Target Manager worth the listening time?

Hard to say. If you can stomach the garbage, there is some useful stuff there.

Some not bad advice, stupid presentation
