About this listen

Maddie Castle is broken. Ever since the tragedy that struck on her twins' 10th birthday, she's been trying to fit the pieces together, to get back to the life she led before. Maddie, her husband, Dom, and their children, Aidan and Annabel, lived in a comfortable home on a quiet street in a London suburb. Life was busy and satisfying. They were happy. Weren't they?

Now, a disoriented and grieving Maddie floats like a ghost through each day, hardly sleeping, eating, or speaking. It's easier to stay locked in her own head than to torment herself by reliving what happened. And yet, the harder Maddie tries to pin down her memories, the more they slip out of reach. Is her guilt and remorse justified? Is it Maddie's fault that everything was ripped apart?

Or could it be that the real terror is still to come?

Drags on...

There is too much run on chatter before there is anything to get you hooked in. The writer just goes on and on before getting to any interesting point. Then as it goes on there are too many necessary details that dont effect the story. It just makes it long and drawn out.

Overdramatic, drawn out & incessant internal monologue

The story wasn’t “bad” but the narrative became really annoying, really fast. The lead character narrates 90% of it comprised of her own thoughts, psychoanalysis & a sickeningly over dramatic gush about her kids & being a mother. I felt like I was living in the head of a neurotic, anxiety-ridden whining woman.

I was crying my eyes out for the last five minutes

This was an awesome book! It started out immediately grabbing my attention and never let go until the end. If you are a mom trust me, it's an emotional ride. Many times I could have punched the wall and the next thing I knew, my heart was breaking. This was a very intense book and I really enjoyed listening to the narrator tell the tale. All around, totally worth the money. 😀😀😀😀

A great listen

A little longer than necessary, but very good! Really delves into the human psyche in many ways. Recommend.

Long & Slow

The story was longer than it needed to be and the reader made it longer with her slow depressing voice. I managed to stick with it to the end. Only the professor was interesting but the accent made it difficult to understand

Good book

I really enjoyed listening to this story. I thought it was original and it kept me wanting to keep listening long after I called it a day. (I listen while I’m at work or walking my dogs). The narration was most excellent.
