About this listen

They vow to love, honor, cherish...

With her signature spirit, Faith Merridew has left everything she's ever known for the man she thought was the love of her life. Instead he leaves her name - and dreams - in the dust. That is, until she crosses paths with Nicholas Blacklock, a Waterloo veteran, who offers to save her reputation with a marriage of convenience.

...and then get to know one other.

A hardened soldier, Nick hides a deadly secret - and tries to keep Faith at arm's length. But even though Nick can command legions of men with a word, his orders go sweetly ignored by his convenient bride. And as they come to know one another more deeply, she brings out in him things he thought dead: gentleness, laughter...and love....

Contains mature themes.

I have enjoyed reading this series on the Merridew sisters, however, this third book kept me enthralled from start to finish. It was adventurous, funny and sad. Not often do I cry from stories, but this one had me in tears.

It was unexpected that this would be the book I enjoyed the most. At the end of book two it suggested that Faith had taken off with the flamboyant violinist and I had decided that was a mistake. Therefore, I wasn't anticipating the turn of events that befell Faith. The hero was amazing as was his friends. Many sad stories interwoven into this as it was the aftermath of war and loss.

The jest of the story is about learning to love, and working to make a respectful, strong relationship. You will love Faith's story and the supporting characters as well. There is sex and sexual tension, but this is one of things I like about romance novels.

Heather Wilds is an excellent narrator and creates voices that suits the characters. This can be a read alone story but you will miss much about the family and the history of why Faith reacts to some situations as she does. Well done Anne Gracie!

I couldn't stop listening, was sad for this story to end. I even went back to listen to key parts of the story and I fell just as much in love with the side characters' love story. The narrator was perfect for this story and did a good job differentiating the characters and giving an emotional performance. It really kept me on the edge as to how this story would have a happy ending but it really delivered by the end.

Masterpiece

Another sweet, charming and fun story in the series. There were some laugh out loud moments, and I loved the characters.

Another charmer

This is another delightful and charming story by Anne Gracie, but I cannot stand this narrator. She puts inflections on various words in a sentence that should not be emphasized and it's very distracting. I got somewhat used to it after a while, but I didn't like it. She did do a good job with Mac's Scottish brogue, though.

Delightful Story

So so good

This is my favorite of the series. Next month I plan on listening to the final installment-so perhaps I speak to soon. Faith went on an adventure after following her heart to heartbreak. All the characters were extremely likable and I couldn’t help rooting for the inevitable happy ending.
