Good series enjoyed the plots

Really liked this series. Performance could be improved by eliminating the robotic male roles but it didn’t really bother me.

Some voices are terrible.

The plot of these books is fairly good. Worth the price as a boxed set. The two worst voices are Tank who sounds like a robot. Just awful. Sal’s voice is just completely annoying. There is no way someone who speaks as he does would be in the FBI. The foreign accents are caricatures. Male voices are weak.

This whole series is excellent

The narrator is excellent. She has a million voices. It made me sad to finish all of them.

This Author has me hooked

Narrator was wonderful, story was as well. I fell in love with the mysteries of each book. the ups and downs of the characters. I found myself laughing couldn't put it down.

Mixed reaction

First, the narrator does a credible job as the voice of Peyton and most of the female characters - with Mona being a notable exception mostly because of the stereotypical Italian inflections. But her male characters are horrible. Too many robotic men with awkward phrasing or stereotypes on steroids (as with Abe). I found it easier to listen to when I increased the playback speed to 1.3. Also, my ears may have just numbed to her or possibly she improved, but I found books 8-11 less cringe inducing than 1-7. Now, to the writing. After 11 books, I’m still not a fan of Peyton. I suppose I’m meant to judge her through the eyes of her gushing admirers who find her stunning in looks, intellect and crime solving - a paragon of all things imaginable, but I honestly don’t think the author provided me with enough information to make any of those assessments myself. In fact, I often found her headstrong and willing, nay, eager, to take unnecessary risks, especially late in her pregnancy. What is intended, no doubt, to portray her dedication and determination left me shaking my head over her obstinacy and poor choices. I used the 30 second advance function a lot because I found the romance scenes with Marco just predictable and annoying . And yet I persevered because scraping away the romance parts, which could have been cut by 2/3 and all of the flaws in Peyton’s judgement that I was expected to overlook, there are some very good crime stories here, especially after she joins the FBI and isn’t working as closely with Marco. I also stayed with it because it’s hard to pass up 78 1/2 hours for one credit.
