Tedious, Just Doesn’t Work

Tedious, Just Doesn’t Work

This is the third cookbook audiobook I've read by this author, and I just do not like them. Cookbooks are not meant to be audiobooks, and this book, along with the author's other books, points out exactly why. Cookbooks are very visual, from lists of recipes in meal plans to lists of ingredients to lists of nutritional information. Let's just say lists are very tedious to simply listen to. After some initial information about air fryer basics, the next section is on a 31-day meal plan. For each of these days, the author refers to a specific air fryer recipe for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a snack, listing not only the recipe name but also—inexplicably—the page number it's on and its nutritional information. As the author did not take advantage of the Audible option to include a PDF along with the audiobook… what are these page numbers supposed to refer to that means anything to the audiobook purchaser/listener? In a word, absolutely nothing! It would have been wonderful if the author had included some kind of PDF with the book, ideally the full cookbook so the audiobook reader could easily find and have a record of the recipes that interest them when listening to the audiobook. At the very least, the author should have provided a list of recipe titles with audiobook timestamps so that the reader could jump to any particular recipe that they may want to make. As a standalone audiobook, this doesn't work, unless you enjoy being frustrated by endless lists that you would have to take copious notes on to make the book work for you.

On a completely separate note, the book seems to have far more audio issues than most Audible books I've listened to. Sometimes, the sound would drop out for a bit or jump ahead a little. Volume changed without me touching anything. Just FYI.
