About this listen

A new novel of insidious secrets and chilling revelations surrounding a mysterious cult - the latest gripping psychological thriller from Alex Marwood.

When nearly 100 members of The Ark, a sinister apocalypse cult, are found dead by poison at their isolated community in North Wales, those left alive are scattered to the winds with few coping skills and fewer answers. For 23-year-old Romy, who has never known life outside the compound, learning how to live in a world she has been taught to fear is terrifying.

Now Romy must start a new life for herself - and the child growing inside her. She is determined to find the rest of her family and keep her baby safe, no matter the cost. But as the horrors of her past start to resurface, she realizes that leaving her old life behind won't be easy. Outside the walls of The Ark, the real evil has only just begun.

It was overall ok

Hard to get into at first, great middle couldn’t put it down. The end sucked.

Sequel?

I loved The Poison Garden and I was worried because of some of the other reviews. It’s different than the likes of The Wicked Girls, but a great and relevant story written with the expertise I expect from Alex Marwood. The end simply left me wanting a sequel. And that is definitely not a bad thing!

Quite good

Very different from the author’s previous novels but just as horrifyingly mesmerizing. Excellent reader. Can’t wait for the next one!

Don’t waste your time

Wow her other books were so good. What happened? No character arcs. Several plot lines started and left unresolved. No twists in the plot. And a non ending.

Slow and Plotless

As a fan of Alex’s previous work, I thought I’d give this book a listen, despite its less than stellar reviews. That was a mistake. The characters are merely shells that lack personality and downright boring. The plot was not well thought out. There were multiple storylines, which one seemed like an afterthought. Very disappointed in this read!
