About this listen

The Bible remains the best-selling book of all time, believed by nearly two billion Christians and Jews to be divinely inspired. But in this hard-hitting new book, author Robert J. Hutchinson proposes that it is actually much more than this. The ideas enshrined in the Bible, he says, triggered a revolution in human thought and established the moral and philosophical foundation for Western civilization, from the recognition of basic human rights and belief in limited government to authentic feminism and the development of empirical science. He explains that it is more a "culture-war" book than a work of religious apologetics.Listen to another Politically Incorrect Guide.©2007 Robert J. Hutchinson (P)2007 Blackstone Audio Inc. Critic reviews

"A dynamite demolition of the biblical 'experts' who tell us the holy book is untrustworthy and immoral to boot." (Robert Spencer, author of Religion of Peace: Why Christianity Is and Islam Isn't)
"Robert Hutchinson is a great reporter and a great defender of Holy Scripture. Hutchinson has mounted an urgent, necessary, and sprightly defense." (Robert Moynihan, Ph.D., medieval studies, Yale)

A positive presentation for Christianity's contribution to science, slavery, and many other hot buttons throughout history until the present.

He can't pronounce Latin, Greek or Hebrew names or phrases, which is kinda vital to any sort of discussion about the Bible or Biblical History. His French is amusing as well. So.....Skip the audiobook, though the material is great for Christians in general. Non-Christians are likely to find it boring or even rehash, so the material in this book is best used in casual discussions during evangelizations to interested parties and not to hardcore atheists. There are great books for that, but not this one.

Book is OK. Narrator is awful

this audible book is an enjoyable listen although the narrator could get a little bit more lively and some of the weeds and details in specific chapters thrown on a little bit too much. it's from 2007 and there's quite a bit of scholarship that's occurred since then. I would specifically recommend anything by Dr Gary haver Mass of Liberty University. and also Dr Daryl Bach of Dallas theological seminary. otherwise it's great listen the last chapter I found to be the most fun and interesting because it's most relevant to society today and the attacks on the bible.

four out of five stars.

Faith is deeper than scholarly knowledge, and the truth is the truth, God’s word is truth. Thank you for a well written book, God Bless

LOVED the Narrator's voice. I know this is an old recording, so there little chance for changing it, but the pronunciation of many biblical terms and places will take longtime Christians a second to figure out what he is referencing. like Philemon is pronounced Fi-lee-min. He pronounced it Fill-a-mon. It took me a second to figure out who he was talking about. Same with all kinds of biblical places, biblical terms like Sadducees was pronounced Suh-DOO-sees, instead of SAD-yew-sees, Biblical books like 1st Corinthians was pronounced One Corinthians, Josephus was pronounced JOE-seh-fuss, instead of the traditional Joe-SEE-fiss. It lent one to think the narrator was a superb vocal talent but not necessarily a longtime Christian.

Great Vocal Performance
