Publisher's summary
The process of healing is one of self-realization. It is a peeling away from the fears, concepts, and negativity that obscure the light of our own true nature and its innate essence of compassion, creativity, wisdom, and love. As negativity is transformed, the physical body often heals as well.
Life is an exacting teacher, constantly challenging you to transcend your fears and find your essence. Broken relationships, shattered faith, and death itself invite you to find an inner wellspring of strength and understanding - a living spirituality. In the process, you recognize that your growth contributes to the growth of all beings - that healing is a powerful act of service for the world.
Drawn both from modern psychology and the great spiritual traditions of the world, The Power of the Mind to Heal is an audiobook that presents transformative methods of overcoming negative patterns and finding the higher self.

For years Brian Weiss, M.D. has focused on leading his patients into the past, yet some of them experienced spontaneous pre-cognitive moments. When developing regression into past lives, one man went forward into the future rather than backward. He entered into an idyllic future life - a passage which helped him emotionally. At that moment, Dr. Weiss recognized that past, present, and future are one. What happens in the future can affect the present, just as the past also influences it.

As a traditional psychotherapist, Dr. Brian Weiss was astonished and skeptical when one of his patients began recalling past-life traumas that seemed to hold the key to her recurring nightmares and anxiety attacks. His skepticism was eroded, however, when she began to channel messages from the "space between lives", which contained remarkable revelations about Dr. Weiss' family and his dead son. Using past-life therapy, he was able to cure the patient and embark on a new, more meaningful phase of his own career.

It's the same truth Edgar Cayce expressed in this famous formula: The spirit is life. The mind is the builder. The physical is the result. When we don't grasp this - when we view our bodily well-being in isolation - life can devolve into constant worry about our health and constant battling to make our bodies "behave".

Story
Buddha Standard Time shares one of the great realizations of Buddhism, one that anyone can learn to apply. Buddhist wisdom teaches that the minutes and hours of our days do not simply march from future to present to past---looming, engulfing us, passing us by forever. Rather, each moment is intersected by a fourth dimension, a dimension of timelessness.

Wisdom for all people/ages
Awesome! I will listen to this again and again. Healing will come about if you deliberately "dwell in that space" with the right intention, with love, patience, and a willingness to move forward and get on with your life! Healing is about 1) awareness (of the specific pain/fear), and 2) choice (to do something constructive about it). I have every expectation this will transform my life, and hopefully the lives of everyone around me. The only caveat to this glowing recommendation is that I had to get used to Joan's high-pitched voice, which occasionally I found annoying. Other books are narrated by professional voice talent whose presentation is easy on the ears. Perhaps this is more a problem for the listener than the presenter (:-), but either way, I wanted to add that perspective. Thanks for the wonderful guidance and wisdom, Joan!

Needs a professional reader.
Great information, but the overly bright, over inflected reading is worrisome to the ear. I almost returned it.
