To be... and only to be.

I have been reading this book on a loop for the past two weeks. It is not a book to read. It is a book to absorb. It needs to sipped into the texture of one's life. I found it to be the case for all I have read by Jone Kabat-Zinn so far. The "Eastern" elements can be disorienting at times as they appear to contradict all we were taught about the American way of life--striving in particular. And try "non-judging" for size. But with each new reading, the "Western" resilience breaks down a bit more. The book will not make a Buddhist out of the reader. Or if it does, it was not JKZ's intent. But it will make you feel more alive. Just listen. And really pay attention to the words.

Life changing, but abridged

When I bought this audiobook, I didn't realize it was abridged. I read this book when it came out and decided to do a deeper dive now. But now I am unable to read due to a vision disability. It's such a disappointment. This book is life-changing, and now I have to figure out a way to get the rest of the content.

Lessons for life

Inspired to extend my mindfulness practice! Felt a bit short though - the book is so thick - might have to read the book as well. Don't want to miss anything!

This book is absolutely essential to anyone's reading repertoire! If you have not read this book, or listen to it on audible you need to! If you exhibit stress, anxiety, discomfort, anger, addictions of any type… This book is for you! Read it, practice it, live it!

Treasure, For Sure

I have danced with meditation for years...on and off. Mostly off. So this book comes as a welcome milestone in my experience. I have a far better understanding of and have received excellent instruction through this reading. More than I have learned from myriad sources in the past. I now experience a consistent, daily practice. Thank you, JKZ!

Enjoyed the Audible more than the book!

Kabat-Zinn’s voice was so soothing that I felt like I was meditating to life advice for the entire six hours! And I’ll likely do it again! So much great advice and information as well!

Best book on mindfulness, meditation ever

without a doubt, it's the best book I have ever read on meditation and mindfulness. It is so thorough in the explanations of what meditation is, how to perform it, what to expect and not expect, what mindfulness is, what it is not and how it affects every part of your life. I can't say enough goods things about it. Wish i had read this decades ago.
