Slowing Down Time Itself

Sometimes we gotta listen to something like that: soothing, motivational, relaxing, healthy. Better, we gotta listen to it on a regular basis. The book focus on concentrating in the moment, instead of thinking about the past or wondering about the future. We have to listen to our body, learn how to breathe, being fully there.
Jon Kabat-Zinn has a penetrating voice that convinced me to practice mindfulness.
Great book!

Don’t let the old copyright deter you

This book is as relevant today as it was when it was written - if not more! For anyone coping with burnout, stress, or pandemic exhaustion, there is so much tried and true wisdom in this book. Even as a mindfulness skeptic, I found myself alternately moved to tears and shaken awake, invigorated by these ideas and the science that backs them up.

Present Moment Living

I want to be more mindful and the author describes different ways to live that way. I find observing pain and stress rather than reacting to it beneficial to my well being. I want appreciate the moments as they come rather than relying on negative connotations. Dr. Kabat-Zinn's work has introduced to me a new way to accept things as they come and let go.

To be... and only to be.

I have been reading this book on a loop for the past two weeks. It is not a book to read. It is a book to absorb. It needs to sipped into the texture of one's life. I found it to be the case for all I have read by Jone Kabat-Zinn so far. The "Eastern" elements can be disorienting at times as they appear to contradict all we were taught about the American way of life--striving in particular. And try "non-judging" for size. But with each new reading, the "Western" resilience breaks down a bit more. The book will not make a Buddhist out of the reader. Or if it does, it was not JKZ's intent. But it will make you feel more alive. Just listen. And really pay attention to the words.
