About this listen

Four hundred years in the future, men are few and women rule the world.

Except for the area formerly known as Canada and Alaska, which is inhabited by the Men of the Northlands, a group of strong men who refuse to be ruled by women.

Christina Sanders, an archeologist and professor in history, is fascinated with the past. As a modern woman of year 2437 she knows that women are better off without men, but longing for an adventure, she makes a spontaneous decision and volunteers for a job no one else wants. Now she's going to lead an archeological excavation in the Northlands, the most secluded place on earth where the mythical males live who are rumored to be as brutal and dangerous as the men Christina has read about in her history books.

What will happen when Christina crosses into the men's territory? Will they allow her to do her job, and is there any way they'll let her leave again - unharmed?

Contains mature themes.

What an adorable dystopian romance

The Protector was a truly entertaining romance of a future where women run the world and the men who don’t want to abide by the world without violence, emotion, compromises live in the portions of the world that barely survived the nuclear wars that destroyed it. Now the women outnumber men and stay away from the savage men of the North. An archeologist and history professor volunteers to go to the North to excavate some ruins. She meets Alexander boulder and their mutual education begins. Needless to say there are some seriously funny conversations. I truly enjoyed the listen too; great narration too.

What the?

I'm all for womens rights, but this world that Elin created is so extreme.
The Northmen are for the most part just lonely, while the Mumsies are just too zen... Yes I said too zen.
I Love that the world seems to be headed towards a more even, level headed, way of thinking as the women of the"Mumsies" fall for the Northmen.

I like it.

I like it so far. I actually had this sitting on my wish list for awhile. Thinking 'Mmm idk it sounds good. But yet Blah!" but it was not Blah!. So go-ahead and listen. It was an Interesting take on men & women in the future. The story kept me Intrigued! throughout & I'm still curious. Wich is good for me because alot of the time I won't get the 2nd book. Even if the book is left on a cliff hanger. For Me to get the 2nd book the story line has to keep me thinking & this did. This book did not end on a cliffhanger. But it did leave enough questions for me to get book 2. It's a cute romance with $x. & I'm still curious & wanting to know what's next. If they find the girl & why exactly did she disappear? Along with other questions. That I don't want to put here so I don't spoil anything.

Pleasantly surprised.

I thought it would be a bunch of feminist tripe from the sample it offers. But really ends up making a fine story that ecompasses a commentary about a society that’s become too prissy, as well as the ways men and women can become something more, something better through a love that has both respect and mutual affection and trust.

The world it’s set in is also incredibly interesting and the juxtaposition of the two societies the two main characters exist is very intriguing.

Still not sure...

I'm still not sure if this was meant to be a tongue-in-cheek mockery of the feminazi and chauvinist stereotypes or if the author was trying to honestly push one side or the other? I'm hoping they're going to try to show that balance is best by the end of the series, but...until then I'm going to continue laughing at the beta males and ridiculous feminist b.s. of the motherlands and the equally hysterical little-boyz club of the northlands. Prepare yourself to either be offended or laugh. There's pretty much no in-between here. Story was good, narration was fabulous.
Hard-core feminists and anyone easily triggered, go ahead and turn back now.

very enjoyable!

I truly enjoyed the concept and characters. it made me smile, laugh, and simply enjoy. it has a great balance between story line, character development, and just enough steam. it's a clever spin on the direction society seems to be going. I definitely recommend it.

Good Romance

I guess I didn't realize this was a romance when I got it, but it was surprisingly good! I am going to listen to the next book in the series.
