About this listen

Twenty-one-year-old Black is a homeless "Goth rebel" who has broken laws to survive ever since she ran away from home seven years ago. When she is arrested for shoplifting, she's forced to reach out to the father who never wanted anything to do with her.

Gabriel is a decorated war hero who just returned from duty in Afghanistan. When he overhears his stepbrother having a phone conversation with a secret daughter that the family never knew about, he is shocked to hear the hard rejection she gets. Since his stepbrother won't do the right thing, Gabriel steps up, committed to help his new step-niece get back on her feet.

But what happens when Black is forced to go into drug rehab with an unorthodox therapist whose methods are bat-shit crazy and require a parent to come along? Gabriel and Black hardly know each other, but when Gabriel offers to step up and replace his stepbrother, things quickly get intense between them.

Contains mature themes.

Amazing

This book was awesome! And the narration was outstanding. I had to get used to the male narrator but the female narrator is spot "on". I listened to book 2 first (which was also outstanding) and my recommendation is to read these books in order. Some of the characters in book 1 are mentioned and play a role in book 2. Book 1 is a drama with a touch of "hot stuff". If your looking for something to light your "fires", then this one might not be for you. But the writing is outstanding and there is some great humor that made me laugh out loud. Happy Listening

The start of a wonderful series.

I am brimming with excitement to have discovered Elin Peer’s CLASHING COLORS SERIES. Each story stands alone.

I loved Black and Gabriel. I enjoyed their initial lack of attraction, and how awareness slowly built as the couple came to know each other in a wacky therapeutic program.

Gabriel is an exceptionally kind and giving man but I was also completely charmed by his imperfections and human failings. Black proves to be admirable too and her transformation felt real. Both main characters come across as too good to be true sometimes, and I liked them that way. Elin Peer has a writing style I connect with. The respectful way the couples interact and communicate in the CLASHING COLORS SERIES is refreshing and welcome. In each story including BLACK, the tension builds and you can feel the strong love that binds each couple. When they hurt, you hurt; when they are joyous, your heart leaps along with them. This is great romance. I am devouring the books in this series at a rapid speed.

The Audible version narrators Noelle Bridges and John Masterson provide a pleasurable listening experience with their fabulous characterisations in each story.

This novel, BLACK, was a slightly crazy “trip” in parts, but I loved it all and I highly recommend it especially in the Audible version.

Uneven main characters, fun supporting characters

3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨

I liked the backstory of Black and how she and G first met. From there it got pretty weird and I won’t spoil that fun for anyone.

After their getaway the relationship is growing, but I got whiplash with the hard turns both MCs made. At one point I just didn’t like either of them. I can’t see this relationship lasting, and I think it’s meant to be HEA.

The supporting characters are interesting and very funny. Darren, Violet and Granny add some real color and hilarious commentary.

Narration was good overall, though I thought the male narrator could get a bit flat here and there. Female narrator nailed it.

wacky love tale

this was just what the reviews described. the therapists methods left a lot of ethical questions unanswered but made me keep paying attention. The love story was unexpected and enjoyable. A good listen.

It started good but…

Ok I didn’t care for step uncle/niece. It started out really good and that’s what kept me wanting to continue listening. It got terrible when the H decided to sleep with the worker at the camp then he got turn on with the “ niece” a couple hours after he had sex. This was not romance just sick story of sick people. I got this on sale and won’t listen again. I cannot return this so it will just sit in my library. I loved the readers. They did excellent job. I wouldn’t recommend this story.

Pretty good

The storyline was interesting; the characters were mostly likable. Black was a bit different; but understandable why she was like this. Therapy was quite unorthodox. Narrators did a great job. Will continue series.

Wow

How did you go from a kid who was abandoned to a creep show therapy to an uncle having sex with his niece blood or not.
It started off with good family drama then went to seedy and try to sound like it was all normal and ok. I couldn’t finish and I want my dang credit back!
