The narrator performs with style that supports, not distracts from, the tale. I don't typically like audiobooks. For years, I believed I hated them. Who performs the narration is crucial, and this narrator has the perfect balance of acting, but not overacting, and getting the tone and pacing right.

All this author's books are dark, kinky, violent, erotic, fantastical and imaginative. It's the grim in fairytales. You probably know this already, but if you're new to her work and have reasons to want a trigger warning, be aware it might push a few buttons. It's a bit dark, like a modern fairytale with erotic tension. Some of the dark romances on here make me want to scrub my mind after. This isn't that type, IMO. It's pleasantly macabre and one of her better series. If you didn't know that...this is book 2. Get The Contortionist first. 😉

Book 1 was fairly creepy. In comparison, this one was pretty sweet - sometimes with an edge of humor and sometimes with sadness. I read it in 2 days and I’m going to straight to book 3 now.

Ok so I absolutely adore this author and her creativity in literature. However, as much as I adore this story I despise the political pandering in this book. I will for sure continue reading the series but if you don’t like political opinions in the books you chose regardless of political opinion avoid this book.

I typically instantly stop reading the second I get a whiff of anything political as far as modern day political rubbish goes, but I love the story to much, so I tolerate it. When I am enjoying a truly amazing piece of literature especially fictional I don’t want to be blind sided by modern BS. I want to escape into a new realm of enchantment not controversy in modern political opinions and wars. Thank you. Besides political views in any given human is ever changing as any healthy human you should grow politics are no different. You may feel like a fool in twenty years publishing your beliefs now if your outlook matures and morphs with a new understanding.

finished the first two books in two days, this series is amazing. Insanely unique setting and characters, while at the same time a flair of the old circus show stories. I'm hooked.

Absolutely love this series! Great dark romance that pushes you to sympathize with the questionable actions that make the characters lovable and makes you love the twisted functionality of it all. This is the second book of the series and it only enhances the overall story and understanding of this world. So glad this was in audiobook! Hollie Jackson did an amazing job with narration, bringing this world and characters to life! If you’re looking for something different in regard to romance, Kingsley is the author for you!
