Could have had a lot more back story and been longer even for a novella. I felt like I didn't get my money's worth.

Too short! I realuze it's a novella, but stil...

I was wondering how Cass could pull off a likeable Prince Clarkson. I was impressed that she didn't change his character, and made no excuses for him either. His love for Amberly made sense. Very well written for a novella.

I listened to this book to help me determine whether or not to listen to the Selection series. It held my interest enough so I will. I usually prefer mysteries but I like to occasionally mix things up a bit. I am looking forward to listening to the series.

I wanted the backstory first.

The voice she used for the most other female characters was shrill. The story was good though. It really explained a lot about the relationship between Amberly and Clarkson.

The narrator was kind of annoying

What made the experience of listening to The Queen the most enjoyable?

As the narrator, Rachel made each character's voice distinct. She made it so easy to know when a new character was speaking which provided for a really enjoyable listening experience.

What did you like best about this story?

I haven't read the rest of the Selection series, and this book made me want to read more.

Have you listened to any of Rachel F. Hirsch’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I also listened to THE ICE CAPTAIN'S DAUGHTER. That book required various accents as well. I was really impressed with (in both books) how she was able to make each voice sound so different, and how the voices she used in the two books differed from each other.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I didn't have an extreme reaction. I just enjoyed it.

Any additional comments?

I look forward to listening to more books narrated by Rachel F. Hirsch because she is not monotone, she is easy to listen to, and she does great character voices. My only complaint about the book is I enjoyed the book so much I wish it were longer!

Outstanding Narration!

I loved, loved, loved the narrator and the story! She truly brought it to life.

LOVE

I have been reading the selection series for about 2 months and even though it did put me in a slump I finished the 2 of the books so far, the selection and Elite. This book however is a prequel to the books and tells a story of how the queen now went through the her own selection competition with the prince now King. I won’t give any spoilers, it is very much a novella short but does give a look as to how the Queens character is portrayed in the actual novels. This series gives Hunger Games meets the Bachelor meets the movie In Time with Justin Timberlake. It is not an omg I need this series in my life moment but I throughly enjoy these as it is giving character building back stories

Must Read for Selection Series
