About this listen

Ambrose Worthing is no gentleman. He's a proud, coldhearted rake who's determined to stay a bachelor forever. He enjoys bedding a different woman every night without the risk of falling in love. When he hears about a wager over the seduction and ruination of the daughter of his father's best friend, he knows he must intervene. Committing himself to the bet, he agrees to seduce Lady Alexandra Rockford - for her own good. He never expected the lady in question to be a beautiful, fiery creature who has passions of her own that call to his guarded heart.

Alexandra Rockford has sworn off men, her heart still broken from the false promises of a childhood sweetheart who left her to marry an heiress. When she stumbles into Ambrose outside of a country ball, she knows the rake is trouble. His smile, his touch, his forbidden kiss are all too tempting, but being with him would ruin her. Determined to enjoy herself without falling in love, Alex can't help but let her defenses down with the too charming rake. But when she discovers Ambrose is seducing her to win a bet, it will take everything Ambrose has to prove to her that he is worthy to love her. Contains mature themes.

I read her other series and didn’t realize that this was the same writer until it was mentioned in the book. I enjoy the other series as well as this one. Can’t wait to start the next book. 1st book was really good but really short. I wish it went into more detail. This one was a little bit better giving two additional hours with detail.

I really enjoy this writer!

Funny ,wicked ,inocente and more; also the story long enough so not to get boring and repetitive.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I enjoyed!

I read book 1 & didn't love it. This one, however, had much more depth. The subject of sexual assault is a tough subject to write about. I felt the author did this with justice and grace. The story is interesting and complicated. The characters are well developed and dimensional. The dialog felt true.

Side note:
It's interesting to think how some men's social clubs really haven't evolved in over 200 years 🤔😳😬.

It's surprisingly good given the premise

It was part of a sequel? It was very odd. It did not seem to add anything to the stories.

I laughed throughout the entire story. Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive.

Enjoyable

Loved it... loved the story line and how Lady Society was a part of this series. The narrator was awesome.

This book was better than book 1. It had more substance with an interesting plot. The characters were interesting too. Now on to book 3.

Better Than Book One

The conflict had already been detailed - we understood- and then we were hit over the head again with it. It didn’t make sense why the H was upset the second time.

It’s a good premise though. And I always appreciate writers who don’t use dialogue to portray the woman as one dimensional & haughty.

Weak conflict

I enjoyed both characters but the premise of SA was disappointing. The narrators voice wasn’t terrible but the voice she used for Ambrose brought forth images of a stodgy, pompous, old man.

3.5 out of 5
