About this listen

“The malicious actions of these angry, narcissistic people are appalling, but that won’t stop readers from turning the pages to see what happens to them.” —Publishers Weekly

Murder, money, and ambition fuel a fiery love triangle in this darkly comic and deeply disturbing thriller of rage, manipulation, and revenge.

On the eve of her wedding, Emily, a top Hollywood agent, is devastated to learn that her CEO fiancé is a serial cheater. Refusing to follow her instincts, she goes ahead with the marriage in order to preserve her hard-earned membership in the one percent. A master maneuverer, Emily is confident that she can outsmart her husband, clean up his messes, while enjoying the fabulous fruits of high-powered coupledom.

When her husband embarks on an audacious affair with his volatile young receptionist, Emily’s savvy is put to the test. His reckless decisions set off a chain of shocking scandals, plunging Emily into a cat-and-mouse fight for survival. Someone will die. Someone will kill. The question is, who will be left standing?

Wow!!

I'm so happy to have found this author. this book just blew me away! I kept thinking, as I went along, that this should be made into a movie!! I really fell in love with Chloe. albeit she's quite the psychopath but I couldn't help but feel sorry for her and want to hold her and love her because she deserved to be loved in all her craziness. i can't wait to have more from Ms
Myles in audible. can't recommend this one enough.

4 stars

The Receptionist by Kate Myles is a twisty novel that intertwines the lives of Emily, Doug, and Chloe. The ride is enjoyable and has twists I never saw coming. However, in the last hour, things seem to unravel and the book flirts with the line of being believable and outrageous. This is why I rate The Receptionist 4 stars.

Kristen Ariza, Sarah Naughton, Graham Rowat, and Reba Buhr are amazing narrators and fit their characters well.

Great storytelling

Really enjoyed the story and characters. We can all name someone that was all of these people and the good and horribleness of them . It was a great book that I could not wait to read more each day! Well done! Thanks

I must be insane!

I must be insane because I loved loved loved this book! Read all the bad reviews because I read (listen) to so many books weekly, at least 5, and I loved this book. Very different, edgy, kinda cray. I read some on Kindle, also listening mostly.. Still I adored the narration, story, on the edge of my seat while reading. Loved it. Recommend it. Almost 5 stars. Please read/listen. Worth a credit!

Lame name, excellent story!!

I'm so pleased that I came across this book. It easily held my interest from beginning to end. I'm usually suspicious of books with simple titles, but I'm happy I have it a chance. I am looking forward to more from this author!
Also, perfect narration! Bravo!

GOOD!!

I listened to this book once, and then a second time. I think I appreciated it even more the second time around. Very good character development, each one with their very own voice and the twisty intricate thoughts going on in their heads. It really is quite an amazing story! Very well told, and very real. One of the best offerings on Kindle Unlimited!

The narrators for the two adult women were fantastic! The male narrator was a miss, though. Too old and not enough sexy for this hot Romeo!

Bad ending

The book didn't really seem to go anywhere. Started out entertaining, stupid ending. It felt a little like the author scrambled to finish the book.

Dr Karyn

Perfect psychological thriller. Writing is elegant, story is gripping, characters are knowable. Narrators are also excellent. Highly recommend .
