About this listen

A gripping psychological thriller from the bestselling author of I Am Watching You. The perfect family? Or the perfect lie?

It’s their daughter’s graduation and Rachel and Ed Hartley are expecting it to be one of their family’s happiest days. But when she stumbles and falls on stage during the ceremony, a beautiful moment turns to chaos: Gemma has been shot, and just like that, she’s fighting for her life.

PI Matthew Hill is one of the first on the scene. A cryptic message Gemma received earlier in the day suggests someone close to her was about to be exposed. But who? As Matthew starts to investigate, he finds more and more layers obscuring the truth. He even begins to suspect the Hartleys are hiding something big - from him and from each other.

While Gemma lies in hospital in a coma, her would-be killer is still out there. Can Matthew unravel the family’s secrets before the attacker strikes again?

Critic reviews

“Intriguing. Different. I raced through it beyond my usual ‘lights-out’ time. You simply HAVE to read to the end to find out what happens.”—Jane Corry, Sunday Times bestselling author

Her Perfect Family is a thrilling ride, a finely-crafted mystery that begins with a terrible act of violence, a mother’s worst nightmare. I was gripped from the first page…I loved it!”—Melanie Golding, bestselling author of Little Darlings

Enjoying this author

I believe this is the 2nd book I've read by author, Teresa Driscoll. I have really enjoyed both of them. This was a good read. I was able to instantly get involved in this one. It definitely kept me guessing though. I recommend this book specifically. Plus I definitely recommend author, Teresa Driscoll.

Rough

It was not terrible but I had to force myself to finish it. It didn’t come off as being real, I wasn’t able to connect with the characters, to feel their emotions.

Not Bad

I have yet to put my finger on what it was about this story that just didn't click with me. It's quite a plot. It's got plenty of surprises. But while there is a certain amount of character-building in the story, I never felt like I connected with any of them. The fact that didn't connect made this story less interesting for me even though there's plenty to like here.

So this is when I remind you that just because this is my opinion doesn't mean it's right. This is a story you'll need to experience and determine for yourself if it's a 5-star read.

Very Satisfied

I was caught up in the story very quickly. I enjoyed the little twists and turns throughout to bring a different view on the characters. I also was surprised at the end. When the author drops a hint about that last piece of the puzzle, it was genuinely a surprise. Nicely done Teresa Driscoll. Thank you for sharing your work with us.

Good suspense, classy use of decent language.

Enjoyed every page, kept me guessing. Liked narrators as well, which is not easy for me. I am now a true fan.

Her Perfect Family

While I am not a person that reads / or listens to anything beyond supernatural series, I have to say I really appreciated and enjoyed this book. I really wasn’t sure what to expect going into this book, but I really liked it. The main characters relationship with her mother was very touching. The family has many of their its issues, and many many secrets, but they weren’t so terrible that they couldn’t be worked through. The ending pulled everything together very nicely.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys thrillers, but who also wants a warm ending.

not for me

I forgot who recommended this one, but thank you. I went into this psychological thriller blind, wanting to enjoy a new to me author. I was confused for a lot of this book but it became easier half way through. There was so much going on, so many important notes to keep in mind and it’s BECAUSE there was a lot of information this made this read so interesting. If you enjoy true crime and connecting the dots, this one is for you. I think the order of the story just wasn’t for me.
