About this listen

A Good Morning America Buzz Pick

One of Amazon's Best Romances of November!

Two exes wake up together with wedding bands on their fingers—and no idea how they got there. They have just one New Year’s Eve at the end of 1999 to figure it out in this big-hearted and nostalgic rom-com from New York Times bestselling author Allison Winn Scotch.

When college sweethearts Frankie and Ezra broke up before graduation, they vowed to never speak to each other again. Ten years later, on the eve of the new millennium, they find themselves back on their snowy, picturesque New England campus together for the first time for the wedding of mutual friends. Frankie’s on the rise as a music manager for the hottest bands of the late ’90s, and Ezra’s ready to propose to his girlfriend after the wedding. Everything is going to plan—they just have to avoid the chasm of emotions brought up when they inevitably come face to face.

But when they wake up in bed next to each other the following morning with Ezra’s grandmother’s diamond on Frankie’s finger, they have zero memory of how they got there—or about any of the events that transpired the night before. Now Frankie and Ezra have to put aside old grievances in order to figure out what happened, what didn’t happen...and to ask themselves the most troubling question of all: what if they both got it wrong the first time around?

Critic reviews

“A charming love story rich with nineties nostalgia, The Rewind is Allison Winn Scotch’s best book yet.”—#1 New York Times bestselling author Emily Giffin

The Rewind is as much an endearing love story about the one that got away as it is a love letter to all things 90s, including Doc Martens, Y2K and dial-up Internet. Fresh, original and compelling, this book is Allison Winn Scotch at her absolute best.”USA Today bestselling author Colleen Oakley

“Sassy, engaging and warm, The Rewind is a sharp and witty rom-com about the road not taken—and the people who find their way back to us anyway. Ezra and Frankie are magic together. You won’t be able to put this down until happily-ever-after.”—#1 New York Times bestselling author Laura Dave

I couldn’t get this book out of my head. Beautifully written, and gut wrenching. It gave me all the feels and I’m so glad I found it. Highly recommended.

Stunning

The premise is fun and initially intriguing but both characters are really frustrating. Frankie is a stereotypical angry, bratty, rich kid with zero accountability and Ezra is a push over. Neither character really develops much depth even in their character arc and growth. The backdrop of being set in 1999 was a nostalgic breath of fresh air, but the rest of the story was a little stale. Julia Whelan was perfection as usual. And honestly the only reason I finished the book. I’d probably listen to her read the phone book.

Just okay…

Perfectly delivered - drawn in and wrapped up in the story and characters from chapter 1!

Perfect Love Story

I had a very hard time getting invested in this story, it just wasn't very interesting to me. It picked up and I enjoyed the second half and ending. Great narration.

The story & the characters entanglement is raw, brutal, complicated, & emotional. The author is amazing at reveling the past & present a little at a time as not to overwhelm the reader. At times I cried, laughed & wondered who I was supposed to support. Answer is neither, in my opinion. They both have their faults & flaws but that's the point to the story.

An emotional rollercoaster

A beautiful story about forgiveness and second chances in love. The narrators are spot on.

Second chance love story!

I don’t like writing a bad review but this was such a slow book and o genuinely didn’t care what happened to the characters. I tried really hard numerous times but just not my thing.

Super slow

I honestly loved this book. I was initially scared off by the bad reviews, but I am so glad I decided to try it anyway. The main characters are both likable and imperfect. I was rooting for them both all the way through. Julia Whelan was stellar as always and the make narrator was good... I truly enjoyed this one and anyone who is looking for a fun story will too!

I LOVED it!!!

I enjoyed the story and especially like the narrators. Julia Whelan makes every audiobook easy to listen to. She manages to fit her character’s personality perfectly.

Funny and engaging

Interesting concept and characters who are flawed and human, which I liked but someone needed to edit this book. It is so slow and constantly repeats itself. Even when I sped it up to 1.7 I was wanting it to move faster. Maybe if I was reading an actual book I could have skimmed and gotten through the story. The whole time I was waiting for them to find the obvious solution to their problem. It was well read and I used it to fall asleep so eventually got through it.

So slow and repetitive
