An odd mix of monster horror and tragic love

I started off enjoying the first two hours of exciting killer siren horror, but then stupid plot elements and a superfluous focus on tragic couples in love made the book very unsatisfying.  The book description really needs more detail for book buyers.  The romantic melodrama increased as the novella went on.  Furthermore, the inconclusive ending clinched the 3-star rating from me.  It is an unsatisfying story on many levels.  I don’t think that horror fans will like this much; maybe fans of paranormal dramas on CW might like it.  There is no sexual content; there is a bunch of bloody monster violence that is sometimes gory.

The following are some of the stupid plot elements.  First, it would actually take a survivor a maximum of two days to tell the story to police, but it takes her a whole month!  Second, an airplane is improbably sitting in an underground bunker room without doors, and somehow the plane wing is used to effectively block a crack in the wall!

The narration is pretty good, 4 stars.  The male narrator Derek Dysart only narrates about 15% of the novella.  He did a fine job, but his accents sound more like Kentucky than Georgia.  The female narrator Rose McMahon gave a very good performance that made the book come alive.  I was a little puzzled that she had Olivia Reyes say her name twice with a Spanish accent but then the Spanish accent never appeared again.

Great audio performance!

I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed this found footage style horror story. The only thing I wish was different is that I wanted more at the end. What happens with Reyes?! Does Andie have a final confrontation with her? I'd love to see that.

A horror story of friends who chase down urban legends and film their discoveries. Also we follow the Life of a police officer and the challenges a missing persons case effects her and her wife

A great quick horror fix!

I really liked the story even though it didn't go deeper into the origin of the killer mermaids.
Loved the side love stories.
It is a great book if you need a quick horror fix!

A quick, original, freaky story

Definitely not what the little Mirmade teaches us about under the sea. I'm actually really surprised more people haven't listened to this and really enjoyed it. Maybe it is a better audiobook than a book that you have to sit there and read. The narrators did an excellent job. The plot was solid. It wasn't exactly believable, but that's what you get when you read a fantasy book. It had me at the edge of my seat throughout most of the book! But Oh GOD, the ending. Brianna Morgan kills me with the ending. And I don't get the feeling there is going to be a second book, unfortunately. Still, It was a great audiobook. I listened to it in less than a day. It is one of those that you can crank up the speed pretty high and still understand everything that is said. I LOVE those! And I recommend this book. My only issue is that I wanted more! Another 50-100 pages, about the sirens, about the characters, I would have really liked to learn more. Other than that...Bravo!

No.

man this ending really let this book down. I was somewhat invested and then all of a sudden it was over. Its like the author got bored and was like, meh lets just finish this here with no real wrap up.
i remember thinking there was 10 minutes left in the story and thinking this cant be a stand alone.
well it is.
and.
the ending is bad.
the narration was ok, narrators did their job well but even a good narrator cant fix something thats already broken.
